Amazing (2007-07-16)

I got this for AS Chemistry and got A's in all my units with just this book, its explains everything clearly and is worth the buy.

Don't Buy (2007-03-03)

To be quite honest, I think this book is terrible, I have this and I never use it, it just waffles. I advise anyone taking AS Chemistry to by John Atkinson and Carol Hibert's Heinemann book really, this would be a bad investment.

Good but could do better (2007-01-18)

I bought this book and the Heinemann AS Level Chemistry for AQA (Advanced Level Chemistry for AQA). To cut a long story short, this book does not explain chemistry as clearly as the Heinemann book. This book does have some good diagrams and interesting off syllabus key skills assignments, although I think they are over complicated for AS level. Why does this book cost more than the Heinemann book? The only reason I can come up with is that it's because it has a larger surface area. Do yourself a favour and buy the Heinemann book. If you really want the Collins book then borrow it (from library or classmate) and compare some of the explanations of the same concepts with those in the Heinemann book. Yes, now you know! :D and not :(

Amazing detail, Brilliant class aid, it will help you loads! (2005-08-22)

this book is a very good side book use it with the one school provides you with and it will help you loads. Giving extra detail to the Chemistry AQA course, it is AS level but i was surprised by the immense detail. It is colour coded to show which bits are for each module. It has real life contexts and applications to make the science relevent and easier to understand. It has coloured charts and pictures to help understanding it uses summaries to break down the learning into easier blocks making sure you dont miss any important scientific facts it has exam style questions at the end of the chapters tracking your progress so you know what to work on, it has key skill assignments and of course if youre very able and looking to ace your exam - it has extension boxes to challenge you further, all in all its a good book giving immense detail so you wont go into the exam room feeling lost. Buy it now!

This book wont get you an A ! (B grade at best!) (2005-02-07)

As a private candidate working by day and studying by night i needed a book to cover all the AQA AS Chemistry syllabus and more. I was heavily dependent on this book as i have no other college notes to go on, studying from home. overall my evalution of this book is that its absolutely terrible! The book covers the syllabus too vaguely and doesnt give enough information to get even a B grade! iv just sat some chemistry AS module exams and really regret buying this book now, as i kno and am certain i havent got the grade which i wanted! just one example from many concerns a module 2 question concerning the disadvantages of producing titanium! this book identifies one or two, yet in past AQA CHEM2 papers they have asked for up to 4 disadvantages! this book by john atkinson for AQA chemistry is a far better buy! ISBN 0435581341.
