hmmm... (2008-07-27)

First and foremost I have to admit that from about the third chapter of Twilight I was not able to put these books down, they really do have some unseen grip on the reader (and is my reason for giving this 3 stars), as far as enjoyability goes I'd say I liked Eclipse the best, I loved how it delved into the history of the other vampires and of course the werewolves, but it was by far the most predictable(did Meyer really think we wouldn't connect the dots?), and I found myself more than once with a very sudden urge to strangle Bella. And I definitely find myself agreeing with a lot of what others here have said, her whole thought process within this book is just completely and utterly wacked, if the guy you are insanely in love with and who you cannot live or breathe without asks you to marry him, you say yes, and her selfishness just seems to grow, and her self conciousness just continues to get on my nerves, Edward loves her, and I think he has proven that on more than one occassion, and yes we all have insecurities but I think it could have been toned down. And the whole Jacob deal, like what? She only ever saw him as a brother, and knew with certainty that there was nothing more, and then all of a sudden after Jacob FORCES, yes forces himself on her then he seems to be worth ruining her relationship with Edward over, right that makes perfect sense, it's absolutely ridiculous, I mean when he kisses her it actually repulses her, she tries to shove him off, it was quite clear that a line had been crossed. I am just not convinced by the whole her being in love with Jacob as well, it doesn't make sense, and I'm really rather disgusted at her father's reaction, had it been Edward, god forbid, then all hell woud have broken loose, but because it's Jacob, it's ok if he attacks his daughter.I really believe that the pursuit of tat whole storyline has rather messed things up, but alas I am going to read the next installment to see if Meyer can be redeemed, regardless of its flaws, I am a slave to this newest of obsessions...(sighs)
can't wait for the next book to come out (2008-07-17)

This book had me sitting on the edge of my seat. There is a lot of angst in these books which never sits very well for me, however it only brings certain characters closer together. I almost feel as thought SM has taken various themes from certain classics such as Romeo and Juliet and Wuthering Heights, with the exception that the ending is always hopeful. Regarding this book - the plot was fantastic, the characters even more lovable (Edward especially). He is Heathcliffe, Romeo, Darcy - all mixed together! One thing that irritated me was Bella's ungratefulness towards Edward and his family who are trying to look out for her. She must know by now it's for her own good. Hopefully the final book will tie things up with Jacob (meeting someone else) because he was getting quite tiresome in this novel, and hopefully Bella and Edward will both get what they want. She will break many hearts if it doesn't.5 stars!
Cannot wait for Breaking Dawn! (2008-07-05)

As with Twilight and New Moon, I finished this in a day, I could not put it down. In this book you really see Bella's struggle in balancing her relationship with Edward (the vampire) and Jacob (the werewolf), as well as having to deal with external threats. I love the way Meyer really shows the depth of feelings that the characters have toward each other, and by the end you get a much better understanding of the complexities in their relationships. As with the other books, the way Meyer describes every detail - a slight movement or look by a character, really helps to bring them alive as well as add to the overall tension. There is more interaction between the vampires and werewolves as well, which is interesting to read and I love the humour in a few of these moments. This again is an all-consuming, roller-coaster of emotions that will have you hooked from beginning to end.

This book was a complete follow on to Twilight and Moonlight, but I took off a star because i disliked the way Bella is completely lovesick over Edward and anything that Jacob did was automatically irritating to her. I felt like saying to Bella that she should see that Jacob only has her best interests at heart. But that may just be my own personel opinion, and other people may like that aspect. Aside from that, this was an amazing book and I enjoyed reading it very much. I cant wait untill Breaking Dawn, the fourth in the series.
Team Edward or Team Jacob? (2008-06-24)

Warning: contains spoilers for 'Twilight' and 'New Moon'. 'Eclipse', the third book in The Twilight Saga, has been described as the best book in the series so far (I disagree with this, but I seem to be in the minority). Stephenie's writing is definitely better, and her characters are gaining new depth every chapter. Whereas 'Twilight' and 'New Moon' focused on the finding & losing of love, 'Eclipse' explores the hard choice of choosing. Bella has a very hard decision to make: between Edward, her vampire soulmate, or Jacob, her werewolf best friend. Bella is presented with a choice, and it's a choice that will define the rest of her life. 'Eclipse' is just as addictive as the previous two installments (When I read it for the first time, I was up until 4am), and features the same irresistible characters we've come to know and love. After this book's release in August 2007, the famous battle begun: Team Edward, or Team Jacob? Which team will you choose?
