A fitting memorial (2008-03-14) I was sad to hear of Jeff Healeys death recently. I remember going to see him live in the late 1980's and was hooked immediately. his energetic and unusual style was engrossing, and when he launched into 'see the light' which features on this album, it blew everyone away. I think this debut album remains his best work. I was looking forward to seeing him in London In April, promoting his new album which is a return to blues after his Jazz work of more recent years, but it is not to be. I hope the new album serves as a fittng epitaph.
CD case in pieces! (2007-11-26) This is a comment on Amazon's quality control (or rather, the lack of it) rather than on Jeff Healey who is clearly a superb musician. The J Healey CD arrived with two other CDs I had ordered. The J Healey CD was sandwiched between the two other CDs, which arrived in good condition and yet the J Healey CD's case was completely smashed. I therefore suspect that the CD case was smashed before it was packaged was posted. The CD was not very expensive so I do not intend to waste more time returning it, however, it does make me wonder whether I should continue to give my custom to Amazon. I'll wait to see what Amazon's reply is to my comments!
Scorching debut album from a guitar wizard! (2001-04-13) This album is a must for any guitar fan. The blues/rock feel throughout and Jeff's sublime vocals blend to create one of those albums you just "can't turn off!" From the opening track 'Confidence Man,' which displays Jeff's awesome technical wizardry on the guitar, through to the classic blues track 'Hideaway,' the standard is exceptional. Softer songs such as 'Angel Eyes' also provide contrast to a thoroughly brilliant album. BUY IT.....NOW!!
an avg album by a true talent (2000-10-02) In my opinion "See The Light" is by no means Jeff Healey's best work, but at the same time it's by no means a bad album, The album is the most blues sounding album that he has released to date and very few artists have been successful with blues albums of late. Eric Clapton and Bonnie Raitt are two acts that spring to mind and Jeff is definitely in their league. The album is very upbeat and hard rocking in fact it's possibly his most hard rocking album to date, as the track "Confidence Man" (from the Patrick Swayze movie Roadhouse shows), however Jeff does show a softer more subtle side on the track "Angel Eyes". Overall it's simply a great blues album and definitely one for the collection.
