A great intro to a convoluted series (2001-10-15) This two set video is a must for those are fans of adult animation. The plot revolves around a young boy called Yakumo who accidentally meats a tibet girl named Pai. While she appears no older than him she is actually 300 years old! The reason being that she is the last of a super race named the Sangian. After a large bird beast nearly kills Yakumo, Pai fuses his soul to hers making him an immortal warrior and they now have one quest to share together. So while the plot is very good the animation is also highly skilled, with detailed city backdrops and great character animation. Also as with many films in this video label there is lots of graphic gore and swearing. The plot is very pacy and with the amount of demonic fights, magical sorcery and down right fantasy action the story seems vastly amusing in many places and provides a refreshing method than pathetic one liners. On the whole if you like fantasy, manga or sci-fi you will find this series highly enjoyable. Later episodes while good do not match these two however on the whole this series shall not disappoint and is worthy of being bought. Particulary when there are many awful series on tv which do not stand a chance next to this.
A pinnacle of oriental fantasy-horror (2000-08-13) This series follows the story of a young schoolboy named Yakumo Fujii, whose life is turned upside-down when he meets the beautiful triclops Pai, who wants more than anything to become human. Following his untimely death in the claws of Pai's over-protective monster friend Takhui, Yakumo is branded with the sign of Wu, and thus inherits her invincability... but sadly not her powers to fight... Several gruesome beasts, severed limbs and spiritual conspiracies later, 3x3 Eyes turns out to be at times atmospheric, tense and even hilarious, but always maintains interest and flows like a dream. The animation is beautiful, the monsters are fantastic and the central characters exhibit depth and intense loveability. I have chosen to rate this VHS because the first two episodes are by far the best!
