Thanks to new developments in 3D rendering, Dark Reign 2 is an even more exciting 3D Real-Time Strategy (RTS) game than the original Dark Reign. Designed by Intel Architecture Labs, this technology produces spectacular effects, making for more sophisticated tactical strategies. As with many RTS games, Dark Reign 2 is based upon two factional groups aiming to conquer each other. The storyline--as well as weapons, units, special strategies and scenarios--have all been updated from the original Dark Reign. Generally, the gameplay is similar to that of the original Dark Reign, but the level of artificial intelligence (AI) is higher. The tactical use of terrain in battle is a much improved feature. The physical landscape can be moulded or scarred at any time during the conflict for supremacy. The array of various units is extraordinary allowing the gamer to view scores of them at the same time and in real time. Other new touches include visually powerful weapons fire, close-ups and unit detail, courtesy of the panning system. Dark Reign was a good test for an experienced gamer. great game (2000-12-16)

i only bought this game because i loved the first one i expected the second one to be rubbish most follow ups to original games are rubbish but this ones different the gameplay is terrific this is a must for all strategy lovers.

CANNOT BREAK AWAY (2000-08-09)

I bought this primarily as a LAN game, but noooo... the single player is much more fun. It may have some elements from other games in this genre (C&C, TA etc) but it is certainly different.

Very Good, but not too Smart (2000-07-22)

An old school RTS game, except transferred into 3D. All the elements are there, collection of resources (which weren't going to be in it at first), tanks, planes and ships, the ships and planes could be a given a little work though. The AI is a little bit of a let down, but still, an excellent game, and very extensible, which makes all the difference. A definite purchase for RTS fans.
