Backlash 2001 (2007-06-17)

6 Man Tag-Team Match Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley, D-Von Dudley and Spike Dudley) vs. X-Factor (X-Pac, Justin Credible and Albert)A good idea to have a 6-Man Tag as the opener, actually a pretty good match but would've expected a bit more from these two teams. This one's easy to forget about since there are more great matches to come.7/10Hardcore ChampionshipRhyno (champ) vs. RavenExactly the way hardcore matches should be. A fantastic contest from the two former ECW-ers, these guys know all about matches like this. Lots of weapons used.8/10 European ChampionshipTriple ThreatMatt Hardy (champ) vs. Christian vs. Eddie GuerreroProbably the worst match of the night, but still great! Quite a few top-rope moves by Matt and Eddie and a lot of finishers reversed. A couple of interferences, but other than that this one was pretty average.6/10Duchess of Queensbury RulesWilliam Regal vs. Chris JerichoJericho goes into this match having no idea what the rules are -only commissioner Regal knows. A bit slow kicking off and nothing like their one at Wrestlemania, but this one was... different. Without the unique set of rules it would've lost at least 3 points.7/1030 Minute Submission MatchKurt Angle vs. Chris BenoitAgain another rematch from Wrestlemania, although this time the match begins the line of the three best events of the night. Amazing technical wrestling but after a while it starts to slow down a bit. The submission moves are really exciting to watch.9/10 Last Man StandingShane McMahon vs. Big ShowWhen the action spills outside the ring, this match starts to get going. Shane O'Mac tries to gag the Big Show but that doesn't work. He then hits Show ten times over the head with a kindo stick but that doesn't work either. Finally another superstar comes out, and we see something that will be talked about for years to come. Definitely the best match of the night.10/10World Wrestling Federation ChampionshipIntercontinental ChampionshipTag-Team Championship"Stone Cold" Steve Austin (WWF Champ) and Triple H (IC Champ) vs. Undertaker and Kane (TT Champs)The most anticipated contest of the evening. If `Taker or Kane pinned Stone Cold or Triple H then they would become the IC/WWF champion. Slow in parts and not always exciting, but this is when Kane was good and none of them fail to perform.9/10Overall:No disappointing matches at all in this PPV (the 3 last ones are definitely the best though). If you've seen Wrestlemania X-Seven, then this is a must have.9/10
Enjoyable but predictable! (2005-01-13)

The WWF put on a n unspectacular that had its up points and down points. I shall review all the matches here:

6 man tag: X-factor vs The Dudley Boyz.Uninspiring way to start the PPV. Nothing special. 5/10

Hardcore Title: Rhyno vs Raven. This match could've been so much more but a good match here would've spoilt the anticipation for the main event and Vince could never let that happen! Anyway... decent match but perhaps too short. 7/10

Duchess of Queensbury Rules: William Regal vs Y2JNot bad actually, despite the confusion over the rules. Jericho and Regal actually go well together. 7/10

30 minute Ultimate Submisson Match: Chris Benoit vs Kurt AngleFinally, the action picks up. Great technical match between 2 fine athletes. very few superstars are able to go 30 minutes and keep it entertaining but these 2 managed it! 9.5/10

Last Man Standing: Shane McMahon vs Big Show.Decent, Shane is a fine young athlete and could be a potential champion if he wasn't just a part-time wrestler. Big Show slows the match down but the ending is very clever. 8/10

European Title: Eddie Guerrero vs Christian vs Matt HardyPoor, nothing special and should've been earlier in the PPV. 4/10

3 titles on the line: Austin and HHH vs Undertaker and KaneThe Prodigal Son and The Son in Law vs 2 Main Event Jobbers, doesn't take a genius to work out who's going to win this. Its always hard to have a tag-team match as a main event but all 4 men make this match enjoyable to watch. Poor ending though, should've been clean. 8/10 (Irony about this match, if you look closely at HHH's titantron before the match you will se him hit Austin with a sledgehammer and they are supposed to be tag partners! The WWF didn't correct this until Judgement Day)

One of the best Backlash PPV's yet (2004-11-28)

6 Man Tag Team MatchX-Factor (X-Pac, Justin Credible and Albert) vs The Dudley Boyz (Bubba, D-Von and Spike) 5/10A decent opener to another great PPV.

Hardcore Title MatchRhyno vs Raven 9/10This match was brutal with trash cans, sign posts, a shopping trolley and a kitchen sink being used. One of the best hardcore matches yet.

Duchess of Queensbury Rules Match (No Disqualification, No Submission, 2 Rounds)William Regal vs Chris Jericho 8/10This was a weird match because the rules kept on changing in favour of William Regal still some great wrestling and lots of funny moments. Will Regal's duchess of queenbury rules do the job? Watch to find out.

30 Minute Submission MatchKurt Angle vs Chris Benoit 9/10If you like technical submission wrestling this is the match for you. It does drag on a bit but is one of the best matches on the card.

Last Man Standing MatchShane McMahon vs Big Show 10/10If you liked Shane at SummerSlam against Steve Blackman than you are going to love this match. Excellent stuff.

European Title Triple Threat MatchMatt Hardy vs Eddie Guerrero vs Christian 7/10A short match but still a great way to lead into the main event.

World, Intercontinental vs Tag Team Titles MatchTwo Man Power Trip (Steve Austin and Triple H) vs Brothers of Destruction (The Undertaker and Kane 10/10I really liked this match it had lots of emotion and drama and quite funny in some parts. The only thing I didn't like is that the wrong team won.

What the hell has happened to old school wrestling. (2004-07-26)

From start to finish Backlash 2001 was pure crap.Dare I even tell you the matches, there so pointless:

all 3 Dudleyz take on x-pac,justin credible and albert in what was a complete bore with absolutely no excitement what so ever.

The hardcore title between rhyno and raven was alright but for two former ecw hardcore stars and with the hardcore experience, they couldv'e taken this one further than what they did.

Triple threat match for the european title between matt hardy, christian and eddie guerrero is absolutely worthless as this one doesn't get any excitement either.

Chris Jericho vs. William Regal is just pure **** but I did like what Jericho got in the match and that was everything he deserved.

Submissions in 30 minutes match was an alright match but half way through it does get really boring. This match was Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit.

Last man standing between Shane McMahon and Big Show is probably the only good match on the tape, this match does goe into the usual places where a last man standing match would usually go but the ending is what spoilt it a bit if you ask me.

Finally the main event which was between Taker and Kane vs. HHH and Austin.Three titles were on the line in this match and they were Intercontinental,Tag team and wwf titles. For all three titles on the line, they could've taken this match just a little bit further but towards the end of the match, some fans might think that they did.

If you are collecting the events then this tape is for you but if you're collecting all the GOOD events then don't bother with this one.

As good as Wrestlemania? (2004-04-05)

The PPV after Wrestlemania X-7 has 7 matches (plus 2 extra ones if you buy the DVD). Strange thing is, there isn't a straight forward one-on-one match. Doesn't matter though. Here are the matches.

1: 6 Man Tag Team MatchX Factor VS. Dudley BoyzO.K. 6 Man Match. X-Pac gets put through a table afterwards. Sniff. 7/10

2: Hardcore Championship MatchRhyno (Champ) VS. RavenThis was a good hardcore match with loads of weapons. Rhyno gores a shopping cart. 9/10

3: Duchess Of Queensbury Rules MatchChris Jericho VS. William RegalThe Duchess was at ringside! She kept changing the rules to make sure that Regal didn't lose. Did it work? Possibly. 7/10

4: 30 Minute Ultimate Submission MatchKurt Angle VS. Chris BenoitThis is a great match if you're a fan of technical wrestling. If not, this probably isn't for you. I like it though. 8/10

5: Last Man Standing MatchBig Show VS. Shane McMahonNot the first time Vince has put one of his kids in a match with the Big Show. What a guy. Anyway, Show Chokeslams Shane a lot, and could have won loads of times. At the end, Shane leaps off the Backlash set. Brutal. 9/10

6: Triple Threat Match for the European ChampionshipMatt Hardy (Champ) VS. Eddie Guerrero VS. ChristianA good match with some interfernce from Edge and Jeff Hardy. No-one helps out Eddie? Oh well. 7/10

7: Tag Team Match for the WWF, Intercontinental and Tag Team ChampionshipsKane & Undertaker (Tag Champs) VS. Stone Cold (WWF Champ) & Triple H (IC Champ)The main event didn't disappoint. In a match where all the major titles are on the line, both Vince and Stephanie McMahon attempt to help out Triple H and Austin. Stephanie fails when Kane gives her a Big Boot! 8/10

This was a good follow-up from Wrestlemania, the best 2 matches (in my opinion) were the Hardcore Match and Last Man Standing.

DVD Extras include:Jerry Lynn winning the Light-Heavyweight Championship. In his WWF debut!

Lita VS. Molly Holly

Interviews with the Dudley Boyz, Big Show, Chris Benoit and William Regal (who never gets round to explaining the Duchess Of Queensbury rules)

If you haven't already got it, you should buy it.
