Amazon.co.uk Review

"Out of this world" is probably the best way to describe the style and content of Westlife's home-coming live performance in Dublin, Where Dreams Come True. It's also a fair description (in the inter-galactic sense) of the short film that opens the concert, when Shane, Kian, Mike, Nicky and Bryan are beamed down to Earth (or more precisely to their native Ireland) from deepest space. Decked out in white for the opening and closing segments of the concert it's easy to see why some fans view the five guys as modern-day angels. Appropriately for the song "Flying Without Wings" the guys manage to perform the song strapped to a scaffolding hoist that gently floats above the audience.

Overall the concert is a spectacular all-singing, all-dancing affair that showcases their biggest hits and selected album tracks, aided by an amazing set and stage effects. In places the performance does seem rather twee, especially their rural-themed rendition of "Seasons of the Sun" when the group emerge from behind the set decked in stylish country-wear. The moves performed by the all-female dance troupe to "I Have a Dream" are also plain awful. Tour favourites "When You're Looking Like That" and "Uptown Girl" are the hot highlights of this stunning live release.

On The DVD: there are plenty of added extras on this DVD including two documentaries, "Access All Areas" and "World of Our Own". However, neither of these featurettes represent the group in a particularly positive light, with the boys spending most of their time crowing about the numerous number ones they've had and how wonderful they are. The "Access All Areas" documentary depicts the guys in a particularly cruel light--playing football outside their concert arena whilst fans torturously watch on behind a wire fence. The exclusive When Dreams Come True website, which can only be accessed through the DVD-Rom link, is amazing though, with state-of-the-art graphics, animations and content (eg: lyrics of top Westlife songs, multi-media biographies and interviews with the guys). Look out for the bonus music video for "When You're Looking Like That" (never released as a single in the UK).--John Galilee

dreams do come true they really do (2008-02-03)

Westlife are fantastic live. Opening with 'dreams come true' they promise 'from all of us to all of you they do, dreams come true' from start to finish the show is captivating all the hits from their coast to coast as well as their 'Westlife' album. Uptown girl is great and the stage set for the song is wonderful. 'More than words' is a spine tingling, hair standing on the back of your neck ballad. and the finale is truly wonderful. 'I lay my love on you' followed by a heart stopping performance of 'flying without wings' as the boys are winched up and over the audience. Truly wonderful and captivating, showing why the boys came to be at the very top of their game.

This is the ultimate Westlife Experience ! If you've seen the concert in person, then you will forever treasure the memory of it. And you can have it at home. Even if you havn't actually seen it in person, it will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time.Shane's singing is to die for. Bryan is soooo funny, as always. Mark sings his heart out. Nicky looks cool as ever. And Kian, the hunk of my life looks totally gorgeous. Trust me, you must buy this video !!!!!
An awesome experience - I was blown away (2002-03-18)

This was an absolutely fun concert to watch. With the mild exception of a little too much of Mark's vocals in the harmony blend on several songs, the harmonies were great. The staging was exciting, the costumes were cool, and the Motown bit in the middle was unexpected and extremely well-done. The typical, fabulous Westlife harmonies were evident most of the time, and the boys looked like they were having so much fun. And the spectacular ending, Flying Without Wings while perched above the audience, was too, too much! The behind the scenes footage was fun, and the featurette on World Of Our Own provided a whole lot more music. And the added bonus of the video for When You're Looking Like That was great. Well-worth the money. I've already watched it twice! Buy it. Enjoy it!
dreams definitely come true with this DVD (2002-02-20)

I waited for this DVD for what seemed like ages, but when I finally got it, it was definitely worth the wait. It features (almost) all the best songs that Westlife have recorded, plus a rather funny and cheerful Motown Medley. My favourite bits must be the ones where the little known vocal talents of Kian appears, which was also what struck me the most in concert. Only one thing dissapointed me slightly, the fact that I read somewhere that it contained different camera-angles - but alas it didn't :o(No matter what - buy it - the money will be well spent...:o)
The stuff that dreams are made off.... (2002-02-13)

Ok, so they've done their ballads, the white outfits and the singing on cliff tops, but if you thought that a Westlife concert would be five guys sat on stools for 2 hours - think again. This tour was a long time coming, but it was sure worth the wait. If you were there, this will take you right back to that night, if not, it'll show you what you missed. On a par with classic pop concerts such as Take That's, this show has, as Mr McFadden puts it,'A big beginning, a big ending, and a big bit in the middle.' The ballads will make you cry, the Mowtown Medley will have you dancing round the living room, and the site of five gorgeous irish men stripping off on stage will make you smile!
