Nostalgia fix (2007-07-31)

This is a charming film about an aircraft designer, an airline owner and their dispute over the former's passion for an old showmans engine. Very much in the vein of Genevieve and the Titfield Thunderbolt, the predictabilty of the story prevented this from becoming quite so fondly remembered as the others.Delightfully, this film contains no long haired rock bands at all.... The other reviews seem to justfy a lot of peoples opinions of heavy metallers
Unauthorised documentary & No real Iron Maiden Music! (2006-01-21)

This DVD arrived by post today at my place. It says on the cover that it is 'AN UNAUTHORISED DOCUMENTRAY FLIM PACKED WITH EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEWS'.

I played it... the first words that came up on the screen was that it didn't contain any realy music of Iron Maiden either !!!

But if you are a 'DIE HARD' fan of Maiden, this will be a golden feather to add to your collection, coz it has some never seen before clips!!

Not worth the ££'s paid.

A collectors VHS any Iron Maiden's die hard fan must have (2004-05-03)

My opinion reveals the major details about the "movie's" plot.I bought this VHS when I went to europe years ago. I had heard only a little of Iron Maiden Before I had no idea what to expect when I was going to watch it for the first time.

What I saw was an incredibly hard-rocking band, just like AC/DC, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin and Kiss for example. The Frontman Bruce Dickinson runs and jumps manically around the stage while singing; the guitars of Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and the bass of Sir. Steve Harris roar as anyone else; and Nicko McBrain assaults his drum kit incredibly well.

There are only four songs on this video are: Aces High, Hallowed Be Thy Name, 2 Minutes To Midnight, and Run To The Hills. All of them are of my favorite Maiden songs and are Classics of Iron maiden now a days.

The videos of Aces High and 2 Minutes To Midnight are promotional videos featuring insert footage. Aces High, a tribute to the RAF, features clips from World War II, and 2 Minutes To Midnight has a long and confusing sequence of insert footage, something to do with organized crime, but I do not understan it very well. One complaint is that we see almost nothing of the band during this awesome song.

Hallowed Be Thy Name and Run To The Hills were recorded live in Eastern Europe during the band's tour in 1984, World Slavery Tour which lasted more than A year. Hallowed Be Thy Name was shot in Katowice, Poland, while Run To The Hills in Budapest, Hungary.

Hallowed Be Thy Name features some footage from the Russian movie "Alexander Nevsky" in between concert footage. The only drawback from the live recordings was that Bruce Dickinson held the microphone away from his mouth when he sang the line "...we gave him hell" on Run To The Hills(presumably to protect virgin Hungarian ears, but it messes up the rhyme scheme with the previous line "...we fought him well").

In between songs, there is some footage of the band on tour, getting on and off trains and buses, playing soccer and of course backstage from Poland, Hungary, and Yugoslavia.

This video was my first exposure to Iron Maiden, and I now consider myself an Iron Maiden N°1 fan thanks to it, I have all their discography and its awesome weeks ago i bought the Eddi's Archive and I love it , it's beautiful.

RecommendedYES!!!! (for any Iron Maiden die hard fan you MUST have it)

Entertaining, witty, idealistic (2004-03-15)

Set in 1950s England, the scenery, cast and story compliment each other well.

Cecil Parker, as usual, does himself proud, as the manufacturer of aircraft, battling to convince an American multi-millionaire, to buy his latest aircraft, in spite of the designer's predillection for a very fine piece of English history - a Traction Engine named "The Iron Maiden".

The "American" cast, portray humour and an outlook only known across the water, which comes across as extremely witty, without being degrading. After so many mishaps, The Iron Maiden finally captures the imagination of the American millionaire and leads to the successful sale of the aircraft, as well as the "giving away" of his pretty, yet determined daughter.

Watch out for Jim Dale; it isn't a large part, but, as ever, he makes the character!

A portrait of a happier England and a charming film.

i recently got maiden england and it is a truly amazing picture of the 'classic lineup'. i cant say that it lacks anything maybe there is online 15 songs but that isnt a good reason to have a mown. the highlights for me are seventh son of a seventh son which has really grown on me, the prisioner and wasted years. there isnt a low light at all for me i dont personally really like 'The Clairvoyant' but i dont dislike it. well all in all this is brillerent not as good as Rock In Rio DVD but not far behind.
