Life is short. Pray hard! (2004-05-09)

Okay, so tghere are other later versions, but with fast frames and more than adequate scenery, this does the job very , very well. Firstly there are 6 planes. The sopwith Camel is slow and small, and tricky to land, the Cessnas are your standard types, the more advanced one is slower but more interesting in its virtual cockpit. The Learjet and 737 go fast, but not too fast, and the Extra 300 is your best bet with a joy-stick, for dizzying aerobatics.

The scenery is sometimes breath-taking (Las Vegas, Paris, London or New York before the twin Towers and so many innocent people went to meet their Maker). Some is banal (Rio without the Jesus Christ statue or Moscow without Stalins skyscrapers) and most is a bit empty, so that the North of England looks the same as Mongolia! However, the add-ons from the net or shops are usually able to fill the gaps that you want to fill. I've got some that give London the Millennnium Dome and Wheel which are missing, for example. Most other air visible landmarks are included here, especially inj America.

The adventure flights let you fly mostly in America, a Learjet test around Seattle, a visit to the islands near LA or from Bopston to the photo realism of Martha Vineyard which is astounding in its looks. There seem to range in difficulty (I still can't get the stunt flight in Vegas right for the ground controller, or I hit the ground), and you need to be ready to operate the autopilot and know what VOR's and runway mrkings are. There is help available in the programm, though otherwise you only get a few navigation charts.

THe ATC is okay, but ypou also get a flight instructor (a female) nagging you if you fly too high or low or go too far of course. Some of these adventures are a bit too long to fly more than once (Gatwick to Innsbruck takes too long in the Learjet). There is no Concorde here.

This is all about flying in the late 20th CENTURY; before the new Millennium was half-heartedly celebrated with Domes and fireworks, before terrorism took major landmarks out, and before the most advanced airliner revealed its deadly design fault in Paris. Thsi is flight simulation for people who want to see some sights of majopr architectural achievement. St.Peters in Rome, the Dome of the Rock and Westminster Abbey are included, as well as other expressions of mans desire to get beyond these earthly limitations. Its a way to fly anywhere in the world, testing your skill of navigating and flying.
