We'll not see their like again (2004-02-28)

There were not many "Goon Show" films made, and of these I think only this and "Down among the Z men" are available. "The Case of the Mukkinese Battle Horn" has it all; Eccles, Crun, Gritpype-Thynne...well, not all, since Harry Secombe aka Ned Seagoon aka "everygoon" isn't in this film. The humour of the goon show that would later float again to the surface in Spike's "Q" series and Python pervades this movie like mould in a Gorgonzola cheese or fungus in a plaster wall...it's everywhere. From the opening scenes of the theft (brick goes through display case / hand reaches in/ takes ~ brick!/ brick returned to case and Horn now swiped / continue action!) to the final plot twist "Give him a copper coin Brown!" and the "zany" credits (Freda Clench underwater soprano) this film will grab your sense of humour and batter it to death before stabbing it with a pointy stick.It has one of my favourite lines - Sellers says to Emery "You're trying to be funny Sir!" and Emery replies (to camera!)"Aren't we all!"

This film is as corny as hell and you'll never see it in a cinema again. Get it whichever way you can, but don't steal mine I have Bluebottle guarding it.Now if Only we could get this on DVD...with "Super Secret Service" and the "Running Jumping & Standing Still Film"....!?!
