Great DTS sound! (2003-07-16)

Super Furry Animals continue their flirtation with DVD on their latest single, Golden Retriever. Unlike almost every other DVD single I have so far purchased, Golden Retriever is presented in full digital 5.1 sound (a choice of Dolby Digital or DTS) instead of the usual PCM stereo or dolby surround. Compared to this, the others sound positively weedy.

The sound is powerful and detailed as SFA belt out this great psychedelic glam stomper, sprouting long golden dog hair as they play minituarised in a carboard box in the street.

The only downside is that the audio only tracks here (Summer Snow & Blue Fruit) are the same as on the CD single, although there is a short animated intro before the main video starts.

So, some DVD singles may have more content, but the sound quality more than makes up for it. If you're a fan it's worth a look.
