Deluxe and well worth the money (2008-02-08) Urea is a compound, CO(NH2)2, occurring in urine and other body fluids as a product of protein metabolism. A water-soluble powder form of this compound, obtained by the reaction of liquid ammonia and liquid carbon dioxide is used in the synthesis of plastics, amongst other things, and that's what gives us these trionimoes. And very effective it is too. They are solid and heavy, without being too heavy, as a result of which they are very easy to pick up, they are very easy to place next to the trinonimoes already in play and they in turn remain where they are. All of which is extremely useful if, like me, you have manual dexterity problems or, like my father, just have trouble laying triangular shaped objects next to each other. We were playing with the Classic set but found them difficult to mix (no brass spinner and very light indeed), difficult to pick up (hollow) and difficult to place next to each other (the ones already in play seemed to move every time something was laid next to them and gave the impression that a draught or a sneeze would blow them away). No such problems with the Deluxe version and the brass spinner makes them so much easier to mix not to mention pick up. These are very much worth the money. The game is entertaining and the tiles are nice to feel, hold and play with and the numbers are very clear. Not so keen on the triangular box, though.
Deluxe Triominos (2007-11-30) What a great product! We thought this deluxe version with the solid tiles and spinners was well worth the extra money. The pieces are far more like dominoes and we can see why it is a deluxe version. The standard version with hollow tiles are also great fun but in our family the more durable version seemed to fit the bill!!
Great toy - but how much better is this deluxe version? (2007-11-07) Have you read the manufacturer's review? How can they be made of urea? How can they have a spinner in the middle? Surely anyone who has played triominos (I have thousands of times with my kids - one of the games that they and I both like inequal volumes) would realise that this language is odd in the extreme! I am intrigued, as an owner of normal triominos who considered buying this version for someone else and therefore read the description, and would LOVE an explanation!
