Converted (2008-05-25) Well, I sit here with the stench of coffee on my breathe and another cup here ready to drink. I love this machine, I used to love tea, but the coffee coming out of this machine is truely magical!I recommend to everyone who loves coffee.
You won't buy better (2006-04-06) I had a "normal" espresso maker which involved grinding coffee, keeping it at the correct temperature, tamping it down, measuring it correctly, and cleaning up the spilt coffee grinds afterwards. This was ok as we only really had cappuchino or espresso during a dinner party or on lazy Sunday morningsI bought this machine a few days ago and have had a cappuchino every day since. It is so simple to use and provides excellent results every time with NO MESS AT ALL. Wish I'd bought one years ago. I placed my first coffee order and received it in 2 days so have decent supply of each blend now(mostly Ristretto which tastes delicious). As a new member to the Nespresso club take advantage of the discounted presentation box. This holds 3 of each capsule with a 'menu' in the lid so your guests can make a selection based on personal taste - a really nice touch with guests.Be warned though - As it's such an eye catching gadget, all my visitors now want to see it working and have a taste. As I love it so much I don't mind a bit and have one myself to be polite!!Don't delay like I did - you honestly won't be disappointed. I suspect these will be popping up in my friends' houses very shortly.....
Fantastic (2005-12-31) After having disappointing results with another machine the consisitent five stars from reviewers tempted me to this. I was looking for perfect cappuchinos and found them here. The expresso's are fantastic too and the pods are like little jewels and add to pleasure of owning the machine.Easy to use and clean. In the morning it is quicker to use than the kettle.Even makes the milky coffees my husband likes without the bother of putting milk in a pan
Best domestic coffee machine (2005-12-28) This coffee machine produces excellent coffee. I recently tried the Braun Tassimo and the coffee from that was really quite poor with an unpleasant bitter aftertaste. In contrast all of the Nespreso blends I have tried so far have been very high quality, with a satisfying and complex taste and a very good crema layer (unlike the Tassimo). Even the decaff ones are pleasant. The machine is very easy to use, pleasing to look at, compact and sturdy. The milk frother is also very simple and effective, making perfect latte/cappucino. It is the only domestic machine I've tried that comes (very) close to a top quality espresso in a cafe. I would strongly recommend it based on my initial experience. The Nespresso web site and enclosed papers are very slick and professional and clearly promoting a sort of elitism about the product - with lots of expensive accessories - but don't let that put you off. The only downside that I can see is potentially overdosing on caffeine as the coffee is so addictive!
At last! I've found the perfect coffee maker! (2005-11-27) If, like me, you love coffee and want top quality espresso, cappuccino and latte on tap, with no mess or hassle, this is the machine for you! Up until a year ago, I had never owned a coffee maker. They always sounded too complicated and fiddly, and I knew I would end up losing patience and consigning the machine to the back of a cupboard. With this in mind, my first purchase was a Senseo. This makes ok coffee, but I found it wasn't versatile enough - I wanted to be able to make cappuccinos and lattes. It was at this point I first considered buying a Nespresso machine, but was a little put off by the price. So I went for a Tassimo instead. Big mistake - the quality of the drinks was dreadful. Luckily for me, my Tassimo stopped working after a couple of months, and I put my refund towards the Magimix M200. I cannot think of a single bad point to this machine, it is fantastic. I was worried it might take me a while to get the hang of frothing milk, but the machine is so easy to use, the very first cup of cappuccino I made was perfect. Simply switch on, fill the water tank, switch to steam function, froth the milk, insert the Nespresso capsule and pour the espresso on top of the frothed milk - takes about two minutes from start to finish, and tastes divine. I have now stopped buying coffee when I am out, because it never tastes anywhere near as good as the coffee I get from my Magimix. There are plenty of coffee blends to choose from, and unlike the Senseo and Tassimo, where I sometimes had trouble getting hold of the coffee pods, it is easy to order from the Nespresso site and delivery is very quick. If there is a drawback, it is only that I have an increasing number of visitors who have developed an insatiable thirst for cappuccino - even my sister who used to claim she didn't even like coffee. When I first bought the machine, I thought I would probably just use it at weekends as a treat, but it's so good, I use it every day, several times a day. All I can say is, if you are thinking about buying one, just do it! Oh, and I really wouldn't bother paying an extra £100 for the automatic version. The manual does everything you will need.
