Stir-fry cooking (2006-06-09)

Unlike your first reviewer, I am very pleased with my wok. It was a replacement for another very similar wok, which now appears to be obsolete!I never had any problems with the first wok I had which was also separate from the heating element,it never warped. So perhaps as I have only just received this one,it's too early to tell, but I have tried it out & it heated very quickly to a high temperature.On the face of it,it appears to be very good, & I think it was excellent value for money.

Low Heat (2005-11-06)

We are very disappointed with the results of this wok.

The whole idea of wok cooking is that it is hot and fast, this one is low heat and slow.

The main cause being that the pan and heating element are not integral, when the heating is on, due to the thin pan thickness natural warping will take place, reducing the contact surface between pan and element, one has to push down on the two handles to increase the surface contact and so increase the pan temperature, cooking now takes more than three times the cooking time to complete a wok meal than with an element that is welded to the pan.

Never buy a wok that is not in fixed contact to the heating element.

Please advise James Martin that he is sticking his name on an appliance that I am sure he has never tested.
