Harridans (2004-06-08)  The Harpies' press release quotes the claim that they are "the band Sugarcoma briefly threatened to be." My first response was 'which one?' - the Britney Spears covering girl rock band I feared. Actually though the answer is the other one, that has more in common with Kittie or Defenestration. Apparently the band have become heavier and heavier in the few years they've been gigging around, and this second single is ample proof. Two female vocalists give them a bunch to rival the boys like Raging Speedhorn. While's there's nothing original or new about what they're doing, they're far from mere copy-cats, because they're doing it pretty well and, with the aforementioned 'chick metal' bands lurking in the 'where are they now?' file, this young band could be the latest female side of metal.
