Superb (2008-05-23)

I read the reviews regarding various mowers on Amazon and picked the Bosch. What a great decision. Took no time to assemble - although the grass box was tricky! Result on my lawn was absolutely superb. Far better than my last Qualcast or previous Flymo. Would recommend to anyone who doesn't want to spend hours faffing with their lawn!

Lawnmowing made easy at last! (2007-04-06)

I purchased this machine yesterday after reading the other reviews on this site. I must admit that this machine has made my life so much easier. Lawnmowing is now an utter joy! My grass had the first cut of the year today, and usually this is a time consuming and tiring exercise, but not for the Rotak 40!! No more lugging round my heavy old Flymo (which didn't work particularly well anyway). This machine makes light work of slopes and cuts very close to the edges/walls etc. I'm so glad I didn't opt for the Flymo alternative, which has had some awful reviews. Homebase currently have this Bosch Rotak 40 on special offer at £119.99 which was even more of a sweetener as the cheapest price around. So glad I found this site!

Great Mower (2007-03-12)

Over the years I have had many mowers and this is the best yet. The powerful motor with a light weight is what it's all about. A friend bought the slightly smaller Rotak 34 which still has a 1400w motor! Look no further for a good well made mower. (I must be getting old, talking about mowers!!!!)

A sharp cut... (2006-09-06)

There are times in life when we instantly know that we have made the right decision. Needing to buy a replacement lawnmower instantly meant I had no time to read reviews (I'm a natural cynic anyway) or carry out any research. I bought this lawnmower late last night and was cutting the grass 1st thing this morning and it really was a joy to use! Being an engineer I was attracted by the higher powered electric motor. Not being the green fingered sort I was impressed by the increased cut compared to other similar machines. And its lightness and manoeuvrability means that my wife and kids can cut the grass too! The box is easily removed and refitted and is not too large that you have to struggle to empty it into the 'green'wheelie bin.

Works well even on long damp grass (2005-11-14)

Probably like most people, this was a 'distress' purchase, eg my previous lawnmower had died so I needed a new one quick, and the grass was getting long by the time I got around to choosing this. Luckily it arrived at breathtaking speed (ordered Sunday pm, arrived Tue IIRC) and made much better work of cutting by now quite longish (say 4-5 inches or so) damp grass, dealing with it easier than my previous (& more expensive) one, which would get jammed up in damp grass from time to time.

Its also wider than previous mowers I have had, which means I get the grass cut a bit quicker. Other than needing an octopus to help assemble the grass bag at first, no problems at all, indeed it also packs the mowings into the bag very efficiently so you dont have to empty it too often. Finally, its relatively light, which helps lifting it in and out of the shed.

Definitely recommended for lazy gardeners like me.
