sadly incontinent (2008-08-30)  Bought this kettle for the same reason and about the same time ago as a previous reviewer. I paid extra for the expected durability etc. Kettle has started to leak via one of the see through sides and is now destined for the bin. I find it disappointing that Philips do not value their product quality as an important factor. I will go to Bosch this time as I am impressed by their consistently reliable, effective and enduring appliances.
Best Kettle Yet! (2008-06-18)  Bought this kettle for my parents in November 2007 and it's still going strong. It boils fast and I suppose you could say it's noisy, but the previous kettle they had was a lot louder and slower. If it boils fast then it will be noisey, no way of getting round that really - that's physics for ya baby! My only complaint is that my parents don't push the metal filter gauze back down properly after washing out the limescale flakey bits. You need to push the filter in until it clicks into place - otherwise you'll get loads of limescale bits in your tea! If you live in a hard water area that is.
Lasted 18 Months (2008-05-31) I specifically bought this kettle as a quality product with a powerful element for fast boiling. Unfortunately after 18 months , and out of warranty, it has started leaking from the 'see through' windows onto the base. I've binned it and gone back to cheaper £4.50 one from a supermarket. Very disappointing.
Excellent Kettle (2008-05-12) As a kettle it does exactly what it should. A complaint was made about the noise it makes when boiling. This is no noisier than any other kettle I have owned and I can unreservedly recommend it to any potential purchaser.
Best Kettle (2008-03-11) I am well impressed with this kettle, I have not been having a lot of luck with kettles so before I bought another one I checked out all of the reviews on Amazon and this one seemed the best liked.It is nice to look at and boils very quietly, you can empty it right out without any difficulty. I am very pleased with this kettle and the price is affordable.
