Not as good as it looks. (2008-08-26)

Nice looking. However, looks are not everything. These scales go up in 2g so to obtain 15g you have to put sufficient on the scale to have it flashing between 14 & 16g. The real disapointment is that the scales are not consistant, I weighed the same item several times and found the readout different. I'm looking for another set to replace these.

I bought this as a replacement for the Salter 1600 which uses the same accurate strain-gauge measuring engine.The Salter 3003 wins hands down over the 1600, because it uses proper push buttons, and weighs ingredients up to 5kg not a mere 3kg. While not quite instant, the 3003 has a good and well-damped response, you don't have to hang about waiting for the reading to stabilise while adding ingredients.It is not cluttered up with silly menu systems or redundant features found on some others we looked at.It is simple and intuitive to use, quick and accurate. What more do you need from a kitchen scale?
