Best Game on PS2 (2008-09-03)

Resident evil 4 is not only the best Resident Evil game on PS2, its the best game on PS2 bar none. Everything about the game is spot on, the camera, the aiming, the shooting, the length, the extras, all of them are perfect. The story consists of Leon S Kennedy, a survivor of Raccoon City (He survived the events of Resident Evil 2) is now a government agent who has been sent to rescue the presidents daughter Ashley from a remote area in Spain. Once Leon arrives at the village, he is attacked by strange people who are under the control of a parasite called 'Las Plagas'. You control Leon and your mission is to rescue Ashley and stop any one who gets in your way. Best game ever, buy it now, you won't be disappointed.
Resident evil is back (2008-06-02)

Well well well, Leon has gone from new in town rookie cop to an agent for the U.S Government. The first thing I will mention about this game is the graphics, compared to the graphics for the other games in the series they are stunning on this game. It also boasts an awesome soundtrack. You can shoot things with greater accuracy than ever before. There's guns, a greater item capacity and characters old and new. Bringing Ada back was great, I always knew ther was something dodgy about her. Anyway one aspect of this game that I thouroughly enjoyed was the three stage battle with Krauser to get hold of the insignias.Overall this game is what the resident evil series is all about and long may the series continue to reign in the survival horror world.
Simply AMAZING! (2007-07-10)

This game really has it all. Resident Evil 4 is probably one of the very few video games that lives up to the hype and is a game that is going to appeal to so many different gamers. This game has it all, from an almost first-person shooter perspective, to solving puzzles in a very Tomb Raider style, to interactive cut scenes and much much more. This game is also very long. The work and detail that has gone into this game is immense. You'll feel like you have been on a journey yourself after you have completed the main part of the game. From the spooky village to the intense Castle missions, the variety is stunning. No stone has been unturned in this game. Full interactivity is present. Just being able to hide in a building, move bookcases and drawers to block windows, run upstairs and jump out of the window, all whilst being pursued by crazed villagers after your blood is enough fun in itself. But these are just elements of the game. There are plenty of boss fights that prove challenging and are very varied. The locations and levels will blow you away with their detail and atmosphere which never fails to scare you. You will get to explore and be amazed by the detail of all the different locations.Fighting enemies is drastically varied throughout the game. You'll encounter some rather nasty infected people along the way. At the beginning of the game, I thought the villagers were evil enough until you get to the castle and find Garradors! Massive warriors equipped with large claws on each hand. And the chainsaw-weilding crazed villagers are like something out of a horror film too.I loved it when I first realised that when you find Ashley you have to protect her and she comes along with you on your journey. Being able to speak to her and tell her to hide while you fight off enemies is something else. It adds something completely unique to the game, and makes you feel like you're really on a mission. She is even playable in some parts which again is just another example of the sheer amount of gameplay and variety in RE4. Some moments in the game make you feel like you're right in the middle of a horror film and it's really exciting. You simply have to have this game and see for yourself all the amazing creatures and scenes and locations that you're going to encounter on your mission. This game is complete value for money. I would happily have payed up to £100 for this game, but I'm a late starter and only recently bought the game for just £15. An absolute bargain. This game offers everything you are looking for and will appeal to almost anybody. Buy Resident Evil 4 now and experience it for yourself. You'll be amazed.

this game has had a lot of hype, but believe me it lives up to it, one of the best action games available on the ps2 and a must buy.
One of the very best action games on the Playstation 2 (2007-03-23)

Resident Evil 4 throws away everything that was inferior about the previous Resident Evil titles and builds new, better ideas from scratch. No more pre-rendered backgrounds, no more loading times covered by opening doors, and no more unclear targeting of enemies, just when you need a clear, accurate shot.In Resident Evil 4 you play Leon, saving "the president's daughter" Ashley from a bizarre European location that, judging by the village you start in, may as well be 17th century Spain. However, the opening village is just the beginning - you move through a castle, an island, and the disturbing research labs that are in every single Resident Evil title. The enemies are smarter, wielding melee weapons such as pitchforks and scythes, and later on there are enemies with miniguns and dynamite as you progress through a military base. The best change for this instalment of the series though is the focus on set pieces. Early on, there is a great section where Leon is under siege in a house in the village and barricades the doors against enemies trying to get in, including one particularly disturbing one with a chainsaw. Later on the set pieces continue, with sections involving cannons, lava pits, gates and cannisters of liquid nitrogen. The game is packed with extra features too, a "Mercenaries" mode is unlocked upon completion of the game, which sets a time limit and requires the player (as a range of characters, not just Leon any more) to kill as many enemies as possible. It's an addictive and arcade-style mode which gives a reason to keep playing after having seen the main game. This Playstation 2 version does have slightly longer loading times than the Gamecube game but there are more extra features, such as a whole set of levels involving Ada, which explain what she was doing in the main story in between the bits we see her with Leon. For a completist, this makes the PS2 version worth playing even if they've gone through the whole of the game on the Gamecube.I genuinely think Resident Evil 4 is the best game of its generation overall, because it had better graphics than anything before it, offered a huge amount to do without dragging the main story too much and it refined the Resident Evil gameplay into something much more playable and precise than before. One of the classics of the PS2 generation.
