Bosch 1200 Plus Power washer (2008-05-25) I paid about £100 for the Bosch 1200 plus. It came with 3 lances that plug into the trigger gun. This machine is quiet and the motor only runs while the trigger is operated. There is almost no vibration. This is a huge advance on my 15 year old and 5 year old Karchers that were about £200 and £350 at the time. It seems just powerful enough and well made. There is no provision to store the high pressure hose when you have finished work. This is a drawback. The instruction manual makes it clear this machine is for domestic use only. They don't define the term. I assume, it is not robust enough for every day use. It would be interesting to know how many hours it is expected to last. There is virtually no assembly required. Just clip the black plastic handle in place and attach the LP and HP hoses. This contrasts with my larger Karcher. That took an age to put together and eventually with use and vibration the screws that held the handle in place came undone and were lost, so the handle fell off and could not be immediately replaced (without the particular screws) and became mislaid. Now an expensive machine with two aluminium stumps that should have a handle on top! For a tall person, the handle on the Karcher and this Bosch is several inches too low.Be aware that the Bosch gun needs an adaptor to use Karcher style accessories. The bayonet is different. In theory these adaptors cost £3.79, but I haven't found one yet with a shipping cost of less than £5. £8.79 for a tiny bit of plastic is annoying. I think Bosch should include one or offer them for £2.50 UK postage paid. Why should the consumer be inconvenienced by incompatibility with the market leader?A Karcher high pressure hose will just about fit on the Bosch, but the plastic grip on the 22mm female threaded hose end is too short for use on the Bosch, the plastic casing is in the way so you can't tighten it by hand, you need to use long nose pliers, eventually that will damage the plastic grip.If you need a quiet domestic machine of moderate power and compatibility with Karcher is not an issue for you, then I recommend this Bosch for it's much more quiet operation. With the adaptor I would recommend this machine wherever moderate power is sufficient. It is less powerful than more expensive machines, but this is a case where less is more! I have yet to really want more power. Usually, you don't want too much power because with the lance close to the job, you can too easily strip paint rather than clean it and damage wood fibres rather than just remove dirt! More power also means eye protection is even more important as the risk of grit striking the eye increases with pressure.I almost gave this machine 5 stars. I think it is a very good machine, but the out of the box incompatibility with Karcher and the domestic use only warning made me reluctantly consider 5 stars over rates it a little. It seems to clean my patio more quietly and as fast as my Karcher that cost nearly four times the price.
