Amazon.co.uk Review
The long-defunct, Southern Californian band regrouped for an album, an expensive tour (expensive for ticket buyers, that is) and this televised special, which features the Eagles in performance. Laid-back but sharp and even stirring during a longish acoustic set, the guys quickly get past the nostalgia element and sound truly viable. They even make it look easy: the sight of Joe Walsh wearing glasses and sitting in almost perfect repose as he effortlessly colours old hits "Tequila Sunrise" and new material such as "Learn to Be Still" may make you wonder why you ever stashed that guitar in the attic. The band eventually gets off their stools and rocks out on "Hotel California" and other Eagles standards. All in all, it's an enjoyable and mellowing show. --Tom Keogh, Amazon.com

Brilliant (2008-05-19) A must own for any true Eagles fan.As said before the best ever version of Hotel California I have heard. And one of my favourites New York Minute
Hell freezes over - versus - Farewell 1 (2008-03-13) Was given "Farewell 1" for my birthday. Came on here to find a couple of reviewers who said they prefer HFO. So I couldn't wait to hear this DVD, as F1 was simply superb. Jeez! what a disappointment.Yes it is ten years older than F1, but doesn't it show it. Being their first reunion concert, they are not at ease, and it comes thro' in the music. Compared to F1 - the harmonies are sometimes a bit slack, and often the backing lacks bite (especially the orchestra). Yes I know there were far more session musicians on F1, but weren't they put to excellent use.In saying all this, I still give it 3 stars. It is THE EAGLES after all!
Comotose Performance (2007-08-08) This is more like a geriatrics reunion than one of Rock performers. If they were any more laid back they would be unconscious. There is great harmony and the sound is great but this is really a text book going through the motions "performance".Other reviewers have commented on the great sound quality, whats the point in a super DTS 5.1 soundtrack when the actual music is rubbish. Admittedly the last DVD I watched was Bruce Springsteen, and most concert performances will come off badly against that.If you like slow, gentle rock that doesn actually rock you may love this, but if you like your rock to have at least some balls, I'd give this a miss. Definitely not recommended.
Stereo Only Format (2007-07-11) Beware that there are a number of different versions of this title available. This version is Stereo only format. If you want better sound quality for a more pleasurable listening experience, look for other formats (still listed on Amazon). Some customer reviews here are misleading about the sound format, but having just purchased a copy of this one, I can confirm it is stereo only. I will now have to purchase a DTS/Dolby one.
brilliant!!! (2007-06-23) i was sitting in my room watching this dvd for about the 4th time this afternoon, and felt compelled to write a review!! i really can't believe that i owned this dvd for about 6 monthes before i got around to watching it because i feel as though i have really missed out!!i am a massive fan of the eagles, and i love both their slower and more upbeat songs, perhaps thats why i wasn't in a hurry to watch this because it is mainly limited to slow to mid tempo songs, HOWEVER that does make it any less thrilling to watch!!the sound quality on the dvd is superb, and the vocal performences are top notch. as usual don henley takes the lead for the most part and his gritty voice is amazing!! there are a few lead vocals by timothy b. schmit(he has an angelic voice) joe walsh, who also has a great distinctive voice, and of course glen frey, who for me has the least 'interesting' voice, but the guy an certainly sing!! oh, and as usual for the eagles, the vocal harmonies are amazing, and you can tell that they are all into what they are doing!!as with the vocals, the music is also superb, they have al obviosuly learnt something over the years, but show that they work best together....joe walsh and don felder spar particularly well together on their guitar solos!as i said the tracks are mainly slower offerings, but are all brilliant, wasted time and i can't tell you why are performed particularly well, as are the two Henley solo offereings, 'the heart of the matter' and 'new york minute'. these two are actually the highlights for me and infact made me go out and buy the Henley abum that they are taken from, although these live versions are actually better i think!!there are several new songs on the dvd, 'love will keep us alive' ad 'get over it'(one of the few 'rockers' on here) are the best!!'in the city' is also brilliant, as is 'life in the fast lane'. an alternate(almost spanish) version of hotel california is interesting, though not one of the better songs!all in all this a great dvd but one of the best bands ever, and the performence ever dips below excelent!! i strongly recomend this to anyone who is moderatlt interested in the eagles, or just beatfully crafted songs and great musicianship generally!!
