Synopsis

In the summer of 2005, Green Day performed in front of some of its largest crowds ever quite an achievement for a band that crashed into the mainstream back in 1994, with the release of their seminal pop-punk album DOOKIE. With catchy melodies, smart songwriting, and a strong sense of humor, band members Billy Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Al Sobrante had an enormous impact on the musical culture of the '90s. The band has had its ups and downs since then, but they achieved another big hit and a new level of critical respect with 2004's powerful rock opera AMERICAN IDIOT. Their searing performances at Britain's enormous Milton Keyes National Bowl provides the material for this concert film, which is directed by Samuel Bayer, the man behind their acclaimed Boulevard of Broken Dreams video. Hits from IDIOT are played here side-by-side with old standbys like 'Basket Case', 'Longview', and 'Minority'.

How about Tommy? (2008-01-20)

"Dookie", when it came out, reminded me of early Who, who were a local group where I grew up. After hearing the CD, especially the cover of The Isley Brothers/Lulu's "Shout", in the light of their own "rock opera", "American Idiot", I wonder how they would do "Tommy". It's certainly, to me at least, an interesting proposition. How about it?

One of the best live albums ever! (2007-10-21)

For any real Green Day Fan you must have this. It has some of the best tracks on and gives you the atmosphere of really being there like I was. Some of them even sound better than the recorded. The DVD is very watchable aswell and keeps your interst with the band although I've only seen my friends because mine even though first hand was scratched. It still rocks though.

AMAZING DVD!!!! (2007-10-13)

The DVD here is amazing. Its excellent to see Green Day performing live since they are so good at it. Billie Joe is a great showman, and the bassist and drummer are fun guys too. They really do perform well and I wish I could of been at this concert when it was on!!! The CD is just the songs on the DVD but you can only listen instead of watch(obviously!). There good, but on the DVD there are parts when Billie Joe is messing about with the crowd and all you can hear is cheering which doesn't really work on a CD. But oh well. Its still really good and I would give the package 5 out of 5 because of the DVD. But buy American Idiot, because that is Green Days best album!!!

Great package for £5 (2007-09-10)

I just got this and its a great buy for £5, giving you a live CD and DVD in one package.The editting of the DVD is very haphazard, and takes a bit of getting used to at first viewing, but there's a lot of effort gone into the presentation and editting that you dont get with bigger bands and more expensive packages.Slightly strange watching a punk band cover Lulu's shout, but its all great fun and Green Day are a great live act. I am also now planning to see them next time round, but I think this was the tour to catch them on really.

Superb (2007-07-18)

I was at the Sunday night Milton Keynes gig, and it was the best night of my life. So this DVD is the ultimate souvenir and is simply fantastic.My only gripe is that it doesn't include all songs that were played, like She, We Are The Champions (from the first night), Homecoming (from the second night), Jaded (how could they include Brain Stew and not this?!) and Knowledge (where they get 3 members of the audience up on stage to play a song).Other than that, which you wouldn't know unless you were there, it is simply fantastic and confirms why Green Day are one of the greatest live acts around.
