With 2200 watts of power, the Russell Hobbs Steam Generator Iron has a 90gm/min maximum steam rate and selectable continuous steam with LED indicator. To vary steam output, you can choose between low, medium or high settings.

The iron also allows you to vary the steam and temperature settings, for complete flexibility and has a detachable transparent large 1.3litre capacity water tank, which again helps you to save time as less refilling is required. For even easier ironing, the iron has a stainless steel soleplate, designed to glide over an array of different materials.

For removing wrinkles from furnishing fabrics, curtains or hanging clothes, without taking them down, the vertical steaming facility will let you do this with ease and if required, the Steam Generator can also be used as conventional dry iron.

Additional features include an anti scale function, water presence LED indicator and a 15 minute auto off function, which sends the base unit into sleep mode if the iron is on and not moved for fifteen minutes.

Piece of badly engineered junk (2008-07-10)

Mine has also just packed-up completely and just outside the Warranty period. Before that I also had constant problems with kinks in the the lead and a dirty brown residue occasionally escaping the filter onto my nice white shirts.This product really is rubbish and would definitely not recommend to anyone even if you can pick them up cheaply at Robert Dyas etc.Have decdided to go for Morphy Richards this time - mainly due to two year warranty that comes as standard.

Rubbish !!!! (2008-05-24)

Reading the rest of the reviews I wish I had seen them before I bought this iron. I am on my 2nd after having the original replaced by Russell Hobbs after the first one only lasted 6 months. I have just returned from my honeymoon so you can imagine the ironing I have to catch up on and yes the replacement has gone the same way, NO STEAM and the pump sounds like a truck. So when Russell Hobbs open up for business after the weekend I shall be calling customer services again!!!!

No Steam, impossible to prime (2008-04-22)

Just spent a frustrating hour trying to "prime" the iron to get steam coming out. Rubbish. Followed the book to the word and the thing just groaned away and nothing happened. After finally holding down the trigger for 20 mins, we gave up.To top it all off, I burned my finger fiddling with the resevoir.So I'm angry AND I've got a blister. Tidy.

please dont bother (2008-04-07)

I have had two now. first one died on me after about six months and they replaced it, however second one has recently died too. think they only have a life of about six months, which is just ridiculous for such an expensive iron.

Don't bother - look for something else (2008-02-21)

We actually bought the 2400 russel hobbs steamglide only 6 weeks ago. My wife has been trying to get the iron to generate some steam for nearly two hours without success. Fortunately we have our receipt and will take it back to the supplier and get our money back.When it works, it works well and my wife, who does most of the ironing, was really pleased with it.The iron has to be primed to rid the machine of air pockets and until it is rid of these it will not generate sufficient steam. We have followed the instructions and telephoned russell hobbs who said first of all raise the base, lower the iron then try the other way on, change the filter, switch off for 20 minutes then try again and then another 20 minutes. This cost us £130. We are taking it back.
