The jury is still out on this one! (2008-07-02)

I bought this for several reasons, the main one being of course that my carpets desperately needed revitalizing. I had an old Vax that operated as a vacuum and carpet cleaner, but being the type you drag around like a dog on a lead, it drove me mad as apart from having to virtually rebuild it to use it, I had to haul around the cleaner plus miles of tubes and wires wherever I went. As a vacuum it was replaced by a Dyson, and although it was kept for its carpet cleaning aspect, to be honest it's never been out again as can't remember how to set it up. So when I saw this I was attracted by the comments referring to it as small, lightweight and easy to use. Well the one I received is about the same size as my Vacuum cleaner, and looking at it, I am deeply concerned as to where on earth I can put it where it will remain accessible enough to be used regularly. I did manage to put it together relatively quickly so was able to play! When it's empty it is lightweight that is true, but full is a different story, plus I think I must get the angle slightly wrong (maybe because I am quite short) as it kept telling me the dirty tank was full even though there was barely a dribble in it. It is reasonably easy to fill and empty, although found that fluff seems to gather right at the front where the gap is too small to release it, but it gets wedged so that no amount of sluicing was going to move it which left me resorting to poking it out with a knife. Then there is the trigger which releases the shampoo liquid - boy did that make my hand ache. I also have concerns that when the cleaner is left for a bit, any liquid in the clean water container seems to drip, ooze or flow out all by itself, so at this stage not sure if there is a problem with a seal somewhere.Having said all that I have done my downstairs carpets and they certainly look and smell fresher, so the thing does seem to do the job it was bought for. A pity there isn't any facility to do stairs as I can't see myself having much success pushing this across each tread - looks like a hands and knees job for them!

Good carpet cleaner (2008-06-19)

It is a good carpet cleaner, it managed to pull out a lot of dirt and cat hair from the carpet and it looks a lot less worn now than it did before. The carpet also dried pretty quickly. I only have 2 small problems with this machine and that is why I am giving it 4 stars rather than 5. 1. For the price that I paid, having to then assemble and screw bits together was a bit annoying and it took a while to assemble. 2. Carpet Washer is ear-splittingly loud, I only used it for ten minutes and my ears were ringing for about ten minutes after I finished using it.

Simply the best! (2008-06-14)

I've used a Bissell (Pet Wash) carpet cleaner for a while now, and thought my carpets were being cleaned properly. That is until I bought this little puppy from Vax! It may be small, but it's exceptionally well-built, and the difference it's made to my carpets is nothing short of amazing. It also leaves them much dryer than my Bissell ever did. The clean water tank is also so much easier to clean than the Bissell, which I had to take apart to try to get all the crevices clean. A very powerful and effective carpet cleaner. I wish I'd known about it before. Only thing I don't like is the fragrance of the AAA solution, so am using the Bissell solution, which is low-foaming, and recommended for all full-size carpet cleaners. It's just as effective, and comes in a much larger size.

A Great Buy (2008-05-31)

This is a really great carpet cleaner. It's small and light so easy to store and does the job just as well as the bigger bulkier versions. Having 2 small children our carpets need lots of cleaning and this has done a really great job leaving them looking and smelling so much better. Am very impressed.

little gem (2008-03-29)

this vax may only be small but what a little gem we have just got two yorkie pups and this machine copes with everything the two pups do it also leaves your carpets so clean and fresh well worth buying
