Unhappy (2008-07-10) I am going to take this back. It is temperamental and inaccurate. The design is poor in that as you push the toast down the knob can catch the browning setting, increasing it. It is inconsistent, the first slice is not toasted enough, the second is burnt. It is driving us all mad!
AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE - WASTE OF MONEY (2008-03-08) Bought one and it broke within a couple of weeks, the toast doesn't pop up properly and gets stuck inside. It burns the edges really black like charcoal and leaves middle parts all soggy so it gets all stuck to the inside and ruins it. I took it back and got a replacement but it was just as bad. Also don't go to Argos, their customer service is appalling when you show faulty goods!!!
Big on style, low on substance. (2008-02-10) Worst toaster I've ever owned! 1. You need a micrometer to set the toaster to the correct toasting level as there's only a fraction of a milimeter between slightly warm bread and get a fire blanket! Have had to convince the kids charcol is good for them.2. The high rise function is useless - it only raises the bread about 3mm so you either burn your fingers or risk electrocution to get your (usually burnt) toast out. This toaster is headed for the bin and should never been marketed.
Smoking... (2008-02-01) I do not like this toaster. Let me count the ways:1/ The burnt edges and untoasted middle2/ The light/dark control that seems to get knocked every time the toast goes down leaving you with either tepid bread or charcoal. Or you can reset it (very precisely!) every time you toast...3/ The eject that happens silently and raises the height of the bread millimetres. So, you don't know when the toast is done - unless you spot the smoke coming out the top...The good points? Well, it looks good. That's about it. I've had it four months and, most mornings, think about cereal now. Is Russell Hobbs owned by Kellogs? Can't think what the positive reviewers for this product used to make toast with before they got this...
really terrible toaster (2008-01-30) first thing - this toaster toasts very unevenly.second thing - its up-down spring mechanism is cranky, catches the slightest imperfection in bread corners/edgesthird thing - does not raise toast high enough to take it out of the toaster after cooking.our new model broke within 4 months.
