Manufacturer's Description
The introduction of SEGA Rally to the arcades in 1995 had the single biggest impact on the racing genre. Subsequent console rally games concentrated on a realistic simulation of the sport, but their popularity, reflected in sales, steadily dropped over the last decade. Now, SEGA Rally is back and set to reinvigorate the genre with the vital ingredients that many of the modern racers lack fun, character and beauty, with few rally games able to match its unique and rewarding experience. Rally's dead, long live SEGA Rally.

really makes me laugh (2008-08-14) some of you people on here know nothing about games do you.you complain sega rally handling is just like drifting all the time yet if you knew anything about games then you would know thats how this game is.why buy it without thinking do i like an arcade rally game?some of us on here have been playing sega rally from when it first came out years ago and know exactly what to expect.i cant beleive some of you are evn comparing it to dirt??????i mean for gods sake.do me a favour stop moaning and if you didnt like sega rally the first time it came out in the arcades then dont bother now.youve managed to put down a fine game that does nothing wrong at all.i tell you something id rather play this than dirt, which borderlines utter rubbish.GRAPHICS 10/10 UNBEATABLESOUNDS 9/10LIFESPAN 9/1028/30 UTTER BRILLAINT,MAKES MINCEMEAT OF THE OVERHYPED DIRT.
Will collect dust (2008-04-24) As other reviewers have said, its not very good! The menus are too basic and long winded. Car handling is absolutely terrible. Its like the wheels are turning on the back instead of the front. There is no way to adjust the sensitivity of steering, so your pretty much stuck with it.I haven't tried Colin Mcrae, but Sega Rally is proabably not going back in my machine!
Not as good as the classic arcade we remember (2008-03-12) As the title says this game is a big let down, my first go and feeling how the cars handle was so dissapointing its sad. The cars are permanently sideways and feel so fake, the car is pretty much flat out round all corners without the need to brake much, the environment engine which states no two laps are the same is poor aswell because its generally "some" racing line that just appears as groves in the road and doesnt affect the game too much. The graphics I have to say are good and the sound is above par, these are the only reason I don't rate this game 1!!!!
Life in the old dog (2008-02-20) If you are after a realistic racer, or are a motorsport fan then this isn't the game for you. I would describe this as an arcade racer taylor made for the console market (with unlockables etc) rather than a game like PGR or Forzza which is more in depth car wise, Sega rally has an instant pick up and play air about it though that neither of those two do. I originally got it upon release and am still playing it and enjoying it a couple of months down the line. The tracks and backgrounds look great (again not realistic tracks) I don't like any of the modern racing games abd no longer have any in my collection other than this, so if like me you enjoyed the original sega racers or arcade racers. Then with its cheap price you can't really go wrong hereOnline leaderboards also add to the longevity as it means once your done with the career mode you will always have a challenge there.
Could be better (2008-01-10) Having been a fan of this game on older formats, I bought this game mainly because I wanted a no thrills racing game you can just turn on play.I have to agree with some of the others here, that the steering feels like you're skating around on ice all the time. I've never been a big fan of using the thumbstick controls to steer, as they seem to be over-sensitive - certainly with this game. A slight turn to the left or right & the car wants to turn 90 degrees ! You alway feel in constant battle with the car, even keeping it on a straight road. The Quick Race option is difficult, as the 6 cars you race against are long gone after the first corner of the track, even though you have done nothing wrong ? It's as if your car is in a entirely different class, and you spend most of the race playing catch up.Overall an average game.
