Very heavy, very large and water tank empties quickly (2008-06-30)

I have never used a carpet cleaner before but moved into a new house and wanted to clean the carpets. This machine is very large and bulky. The water bladder empties very quickly and you are constantly refilling to clean a room. The carpet felt damp to the touch but not soaking wet. It did pick up a lot of dirt and excess water which is excellent. The carpets look clean and brushed after use.The hand tools are fine for small areas. The tools are quite heavy and the hand tool plus hose kept falling off the machine mid clean.

Great Bissell Product (2008-04-07)

This was bought at a great price, which has now been increased by some 100%. Shame Amazon ignored my request to deliver when I was not in Nice on holiday, even tho` I gave them the dates!! The product does just what it says on the box; it is easy to put together and to use. HAve just tried it out on two absolutely filthy rugs, which came up like new. EAsy to use, not too noisy, but it is fairly heavy. Instructions are clear and concise and easy to follow. Looking forward to doing all our carpets, which should be child`s play after those awful rugs.

The best deep carpet cleaner I've used (2007-06-03)

I have owned many carpet cleaners over the years from Vax, Maytag, Hoover and Numatic and this Bissell beats all of them hands down. I have six dogs, and my living room carpet is shampooed at least once a month, so I didn't expect the Bissell to remove that much dirt. How wrong I was. With this Bissell you can see the difference as soon as you've passed the cleaner over the carpet a couple of times. All the other cleaners I've used did remove some dirt, but the Bissell is the only one that made a difference you can see immediately.The Bissell 2X is quite a bulky and heavy machine, so I wouldn't recommend it if you have a smaller home. Bissell make a compact model the Quickwash 2, which is better suited to smaller areas. Quite heavy to carry upstairs, but it can be wheeled to the room you want to clean and once turned on, the cleaner is fairly easy to push. It's quite noisy, so I use some ear defenders which reduces the noise to an acceptable level. I am prepared to put up with the noise as the cleaner really does an exceptional job.Set up is simple. You fill the solution tank with detergent, (Bissell brand is best) fill the inner tank with hot water and place it back on the machine. The detergent is automatically mixed with the hot water before being sprayed onto the carpet. You can select light clean, normal, heavy traffic or rinse and the cleaner automatically mixes the correct amount of solution with the water. Once you have got your carpet clean, I have found that using the light setting still gives superb results while using less detergent. The two rows of brushes are much stiffer than the brushes found on all the other products I have used. This means that the Bissell really works the detergent into the carpet and losens all the dirt. The dirty water is sucked back into the recovery tank which has a built in handle for easy emptying. The tank is small which means you have to empty and re-fill it a fair bit when cleaning a large room, but this is easy to do and only a minor inconvenience. The best technique is to go slowly and you will get the best results. saying that, if you want to quickly freshen up your carpets, the Bissell will still make a huge difference even when you are going fairly quickly. To remove most of the solution so your carpet dries quicker, you do need to go slow until you can't see any more water coming up the front nozzle.The built in heater really works, keeping the detergent solution from going cold. It even works when using the attached hose which is usesful for stairs, car interiors and those small areas that you can't reach using the main machine. SummaryIf you're thinking of buying new carpets because your old ones look grubby, try this Bissell first and you may save yourself a lot of money. Make sure you clean the machine after use and let it dry before storing away and I can't see why you shouldn't get many years service from this fantastic deep cleaner.
