If you like this sort of thing, this is the sort of thing you'll like (2007-10-12)

I bought this cable more out of curiosity than anything else, and didn't really know what to expect as there seem to be lots of contradicting reports of what RGB scart does for you. Here's my attempt to describe its effects having tried out most of my games on it-Zelda: twilight princess - This game has lots of very small or detailed text, and the cable improved the sharpness of the details.Mario 64 - surprisingly, this game was enormously improved from the composite cables, making text more readable and graphics more vibrant and well-defined, making the whole game seem fresher.Sonic 2 - the game feels more vital somehow- presumably because the lines in the background are more defined so you get a greater sense of it whizzing by.Zelda: A link to the past - The text across the top of the screen (for arrows, bombs, rupees etc) is more readable.Super Mario Sunshine - Oddly enough considering mario 64, i saw no discernible difference at all with this game.Metroid Prime 2: Echoes - Detailed textures were sharper, and given that this game makes extensive use of pretty textures it makes the game look better. Note: this game runs in 480i only, and 480i seemed to look a lot nicer on my TV through the rgb cable than through composite, though i suspect that depends more on the TV.Overall, the edges of text and buttons, boxes etc. are better defined, and the edges of 3D objects are better defined. Fine details in textures which would be lost in the blurring of a composite signal are preserved by the rgb cable.If you can find one of these cables at a relatively reasonable price (I found one priced at £16.99) then if you're interested in improved graphics it's probably worth it, as it does represent the optimum experience on a standard-definition TV.

As expected... Great (2007-09-08)

Does what you would expect a Scart RGB cable to do... Make everything look a lot better, sharper and clearer by a composite comparison. There is no screen ratio switching with this cable, which is usual for Nintendo RGB leads. My X-Box system uses this kind of switch with my 4:3 television and causes a, very squished, wide-screen picture. One problem, however, is the fact that the Nintendo Wii keeps a signal on, in such cables, even though the machine is in standby/online mode. It keeps the TV focussed on the Wii, even though the console is not being used. This is actually a Wii problem though, rather than the cable.If you are using a standard screen TV, it's probably best you use this Nintendo RGB cable.

Excellent (2007-07-19)

I was really surprised at how much this improved the quality of the video. It didn't seem like a huge improvement and I was a little disappointed when I played Wii Sports and Wii Play, but after firing up Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, I was just shocked at how much better they both looked. The main difference is in the crispness of the colours and text clarity. Highly recommended for those without HD displays (and their TV set supports RGB SCART). If you have HD, you must get teh Wii Component cable however.

It's 2007, and still no widescreen control (2007-03-18)

Having missed out widescreen switching from the Gamecube, Nintendo have left it out on the Wii's Scart cable as well. My five year old DVD player gets this right. My two year old Freeview box gets this right. My new Wii does not.My widescreen TV, like many of its vintage, will not correctly display a 16:9 anamorphic picture without this signal. When I start Zelda, the game taunts me with a TV test screen, but no zoom setting on my TV can make all the boxes square.Yes, the colours and image sharpness are good, but we should take that for granted nowadays.

A whole new ball game (2007-03-16)

After buying my Wii, I assumed that connecting to my tv through the Scart lead that came with it would give me the best picture possible. Boy, was I wrong! I didn't even know this product existed until it showed up in my recommendations after I bought Wii points through Amazon and, after reading the previous reviews, decided to give it a try. Well...WOW!! Everything these other guys say is spot on. This really does give crystal clear graphics and my Wii gaming experience (particularly Zelda, which I may have to start again just to get the full effect) has been taken to a whole new level.You HAVE to buy this.Really.
