A tale of innocence, betrayal, passionate violence, corruption and greed (2008-09-22)

if I saw this film again for a third time I'm sure I would get yet more out of it. for a start it has the most realistic portrayal of a drunk that I have ever encountered - the scene is surreal, black, and the humour is transitory. the time lapse techniques , normally irritating or confusing, serve well here to tie up threads. empathy and respect for the ageing police chief is irresistable. he decides he is not yet irrelevant professionally, while remaining central to his homely vulnerable daughter ( who incidentally is attractive in a peculiarly Spanish way!).the whole film and it's convoluted plot play out well. A tale of innocence, betrayal,passionate violence, corruption and greed.

great stuff (2008-08-17)

forget all that crap Hollywood produces this is a proper film, in fact that could be said about every European film I've watched recently. But is you want something really special check out 'A Bittersweet Life' (Korean with subs)

Very good thriller (2008-07-14)

Unlike other reviewers, I didn't feel this feel was any more derivative or cliched most other films, although any serial killer thriller is bound to yield the odd familiar plot device.I thought this was a very well crafted, beautifully filmed, atmospheric work and not only did I thoroughly enjoy it, but would watch it again - and possibly again.

Highly recommend this film, very original, good characters, loved the way the film was split into chapters linking all the different characters and stories.

What a disappointing film. It starts so well and the idea is great, but then it just plods and seems to fizzle out. It is a great idea but a big disappointment. Didn't work for me at all.
