Customer Reviews
Excellent (2008-06-28) I recently changed my ISP moving from Norton to McAfee, which were both supplied free of charge as part of my deal. McAfee was simply awful and left me feeling scared to use the Internet so I decided to purchase my own. After searching the Internet for reviews Kaspersky appeared to be well thought of so the purchase was made. Installation was an absolute doodle and I have to say I now feel that my PC is extremely well protected. What's more my PC runs much faster especially at start up, Kaspersky really uses much less CPU usage than any other anti virus / firewall that I have used before. It is so easy to use even someone with very limited computing knowledge will have no problems.
Mr Colin (2008-05-27) Quite simply the best anti-virus/malware software I've come across. If you have Trojan and malware problems - especially the dreaded vmundo virus - Norton, AVG and SpyDoctor do not and can not cope with it. I think a constant theme through reviews is those that have suffered infection, find Kaspersky a total god-send.After downloading and opening a small zip file my computer was covered in infected files. Norton barely noticed a thing, SpyDoctor missed a whole bunch of system files whilst finding plenty of false positives, and other online checks missed these as well.Manually checking my own system files had already shown there were about 70 new dll's created on the infection date - most unlikely. Deleting system files manually is a real pain even with programs like killbox, and would have failed on many occassions leading to more software and more research. Kaspersky got rid with ease and discovered many more files that re-populated these damn dll's.Now for the problems the rootkit scan took four hours, acceptable for the solution it provided. Unfortunately when running in the background as AV & firewall, Kaspersky services would attempt to dominate resources and I mean DOMINATE. On attempting to diagnose the problem multiple settings were manipulated. When Kaspersky wants to update the database and scan, it takes an unwholesome ammount of system processing power. I run a year and a half old average dual-core PC with a gig of memory and at the moment you can forget wanting to do anything on the PC during an update and then an automated scan. Sure you can reschedule the time of this but the bonus of Kaspersky's excellent response times in threat solutions is then offset.A balance between excellent detection and removal with settings that any non IT minded person will probably just turn off.
Internet security (2008-05-15) This is not a review but a thank you.I've been using Kaspersky for over two years. Nothing, but nothing, has got through its shield. It is apparently faultless and the slight increased boot-up time is a very minor inconvience and to be expected.
The perfect solution? (2008-05-10) I had just recently purchased a new laptop and duely loaded my favored Norton anti virus software and set about my usual surfing routine, I am by nature very paranoid about virus' and the like so I regularly did full system scans, however, whilst surfing I discoverd that ad's were popping up everytime I moved to a new website, a quick scan with Norton told me all was well as did a full scan, it was this that sparked me into some research. A quick search on google (With annoing ad's still present) led me to a horrible realisation, Norton was garbage!. I quickly searched for an alternative and after reading many reviews I settled on Kaspersky.I started slow, downloading the trial software for free off of their website. After installation it immediatly found 12 virus' and disinfected and deleted them. Over the next few days Kaspersky worked quietly in the background only making it's presence known when there was a security issue. After seeing the amazing results (which included speeding up my computer) I decided to purchase a full license and I've not looked back.Faster computer,Superior virus detection,And much better peace of mind.By this product and you'll realise how poor your current software is!.
Needs a fast PC (2008-05-09) Kaspersky states that you need a minimum of Pentium 300 MHz and 128MB RAM to run this- this is totally unrealistic in my experience. Using this on a 1.8GHz Windows XP machine with 1GB RAM, it is just not enough to run this without causing annoying slowdowns. I'd imagine you would need 2GB of RAM and a faster processor for it to run satisfactorily, even more so if you are using Windows Vista. If you have a fast machine, then this package probably has the best anti-virus out there, but the firewall is not quite as user friendly as Zone Alarm.
