Marco Pierre White hand mixer (2008-01-24)  I am very well pleased with this appliance. It is light and easy to use. It has an excellent base so it can be set on end safely between uses. The release button is a bit stiff on first use but will probably be less so with more use. Takes the hard work out of baking! Baked a cake in a quarter of the usual time.
Disappointed (2007-12-26)  I needed a hand mixer but didn't want a very heavy one, this one appealed so I sent for it. The second time I used it I thought it wasn't beating very well so stopped it and saw that a weld had broken on one of the beaters. I phoned Russell Hobbs to get a replacement but they said that there were no spares for the mixer, so presumably the whole machine is thrown away if there is a faulty part!My initial impression is that the speed control is over complicated and the beater ejection button could be more precise but I may change my mind when I have had more practise with the replacement.The Amazon replacement service was brilliant; as soon as I asked for a replacement I was directed to the necessary paperwork which I printed off and used in sending back the old mixer. The new one arrived in two working days just before Christmas. Amazing! Thank you Amazon.I am not impressed with Russell Hobbs attitude to replacement parts, I had hoped we were moving away from a throw away culture to help the planet.
A lovely hand mixer (2007-10-25) At last! A DECENT small appliance set for the kitchen that a well-known chef has put his name to, instead of the rubbish we've seen in the past. I was very sceptical about buying anything a 'celebrity' has put their name to as they're renowned for being of low quality. Let me assure you that this is most definitely not the case for Marco Pierre White's venture with Russell Hobbs. I first tried the Mini Food Processor and was so impressed, I bought the company - well, ok - 4 other items from the range and one as a present for a friend. This hand blender is genuinely made of brushed metal (aluminium) not silver-painted plastic, as many appliances are these days. It has a small digital display and is perfectly placed for you to reduce or increase the power with your thumb on top and sits beautifully in your hand. It isn't fiddly to operate at all and the ergonomics have clearly been thought out well by the designer. It has 16 speeds and also has a turbo button, to give the job a quick 'blast' if required. 16 speeds may sound like a lot but there's a huge jump between speed 1 and 2 on my current 'famous make' hand mixer (speed 1 doesn't have enough oomph but speed 2 pebble-dashes anything in sight!). Comes with normal mixing blades and dough mixers.I highly recommend that you give this a try and others in the range, especially while Amazon has this offer. They look good, feel good and deliver. I promise you will be impressed. Top marks from me!
