Toto at their very best! (2008-03-07)

If the FiB tour is to be their last (as several interviews with Luke would suggest) then this is a more than worthy way to bow out. Given that musicians of the calibre of David Hungate, Jeff Porcaro, David Paich, Mike Porcaro, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams are not part of this DVD, the talent on stage is jaw-dropping. As usual, Luke holds it all together, and this is perhaps the best set-list the band have ever put together. Anyone who ever dismissed Toto as an AOR band trapped in the days of big hair and anthems, needs to cop and earful of this. Toto can rock with the very best, as proven by Falling In Between, Gypsy Train and Gift Of Faith, but also provide favourites such as the hugely underrated Pamela, Rosanna with its cool new jazzy beginning, and Africa with its skin-pricking new ending. The magnificent beast that is a Toto medley includes here a Luke solo that leaves you awestruck, his hands flashing up and down the MusicMan neck like a demented arachnid. And the Simon Phillips solo that culminates in the hard-edge end of Hydra made me shake my head in wonder. An amazing bunch of musicians, who truly enjoy what they do on stage, and this DVD captures that essence perfectly.

This is a brilliant DVD. It shows the band at their best - full of energy and having a ball. As ever, they demonstrate that they are masters of their craft and it is no wonder that Steve Lukather has just been voted the best rock guitarist of all time in a major internet poll. His solo spot is out of this world. The production of the vocals are 3000% better than the CD version and Greg Phillinganes is shown to be a hidden gem of a vocalist. They have been 'fixed' a bit but not obviously so like on the CD. The offbeat version of Rosanna and the superb Gypsy Train are the highlights for me but it is really all truly amazing. Around 2 hours of concert and 30 minutes of interviews make this excellent value and is worth twice the price.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING ! (2008-02-28)

Been waiting ages for this DVD, my friend "Geoff Banks" also known as "The Bison" is Steve Lukathers Guitar Tech when they tour here in the UK and abroad, he`s on the DVD at the start and in the interviews, now he`s famous! i dont think he knows yet! lol........... well, what can i say, the musical performances are incredible, im not sure IF some of the vocals have been "AUTO-TUNED" up a bit, some of it does sound very "studiofied" especially Bobby Kimball, mind you the poor sod is almost 60 isnt he? he does seem to struggle on a few numbers, but the stuff is hard to sing!i have played about 10 TOTO numbers over the years and they take a lot of work to nail properly.Greg Philinganes does a sterling job vocally and keyboard wise, as a Semi-Professional Keyboard Player for 10 years, i always thought he was good but NOT this good, WOW!!! im giving up now! he heLukather never dissapoints, stunning guitar player and massively under rated vocalist, Simon Phillips is incredible, i dont think they could have found anyone else as good to replace Jeff Porcaro, Lee Sklar adds a different element to the band, he learnt the entire show in 5 days!! hats off to the guy..... other great performances are Tony Spinner who really does thicken the bands sound up, the guy also has a great voice, he should use it more........ overall then, this DVD is a must have! WELL DONE TOTO!still my favourite band, great songs, great Musicians, what more can you say? BUY IT NOW !! YOU WONT REGRET IT :-)
Magnificent (2008-02-28)

Toto fans have waited a long time for this DVD seeing as it was recorded 11 months ago. However, the band wanted to ensure that this, like the album, was exactly what they wanted. It was well worth the wait and only one word can sum up this...Magnificent. If there is one Toto DVD that you must buy then this is it. The camera work and sound are a million miles better than any of the previous releases. For those who saw Toto on tour it will bring back the wonderful memories of a band despite now being 30 years old continues to evolve and seek perfection. The play list encompasses the whole of their career to date including four songs from the Falling In Between album. The added extras are interviews with each band member who toured and not the video clips that are on the official website (the making of Falling in between). It terms of value for money it's top notch....142 minutes of one of the most underrated bands in the World.
Real Music From A Group That Puts Others To Shame (2008-02-27)

This has got to be, along with Live In Amsterdam, THE most professional, stylistically diverse, fun, exciting, and hard rocking gig committed to DVD and the best in my opinion. There are no prisoners taken here. I went to see Toto in early 2006, but due to transport circumstances, I didn't make the first half of the Hammersmith show - so this DVD more than makes up for it - and I really mean that - not only is the musicianship top notch from everyone on stage, but the sound and visual quality is also fantastic, some of the stop-motion camera effects etc that are used on certain parts of songs are really cool, as is the opening intro before they hit the stage. One thing I do remember perfectly about that night though is Luke's solo right after Kingdom Of Desire. Man that was awesome, and its here on this damn disc. I don't really have to say that obviously you need to listen to this band loud - this DVD will do no less than make your ears bleed, thats how fat, hard & totally sweet the sound is - absolutely brilliant. Gypsy Train will blow your head off. Each and every one of these songs are performed so effortlessly and all the guys are smiling thoughout and its really great to watch, they are just having fun beginning to end and thats what its all about. Long may it continue. I can't say enough about these fellas. They totally put younger (and older) bands to shame. Get this and show it off to your mates.
