Creative Zen 4B (2008-09-23)

I bought Creative after getting cheesed off having to install the dreadful iTunes with my ipod all the time. Creative make cheap electronics and it feels a bit plasticky, but it does its job just fine. Pros: * Good memory capacity; * SD card expansion; * drag and drop or use with Windows Media Player seamlessly (unlike iTunes - a big plus if you ask me!!!); * glossy design with a decent size screen Cons:* Unintuitive interface, e.g. pressing the central button doesn't play song - the play button is a small one on the side, almost an afterthought, whch seems strange given it's the raison d'etre of the device;* FM radio doesn't work AT ALL! Don't buy this unit with the radio in mind, it's non-existent;* Volume is on the quiet side

I bought this MP3 player in a hurry, as I needed one before I headed off to uni. My old Creative Zen V (1GB) just wasn't big enough for all my music files, and I was also having problems charging it up, so I quickly went on Amazon to find a replacement.I immediately searched for other Creative MP3 players as I have found my old player to be very easy to use and reasonably priced, as well as more reliable than friends'iPods. At first i looked at the 4GB version of my old one, but then stumbled across this player, which was far cheaper. It seemed to be just what I wanted, and actually cheaper than my original one when I first bought it. Usually I would spend some time researching the product, but this time I just ordered it straight away. And I'm so glad I did!The large screen, compact size and minimal weight make it a perect for your pocket, but it is also very hardwearing. The menus and button functions are all clearly useable, and the sound quality is excellent. Video and radio are also good, and removable SD card memory is an added bonus. Even the sample tracks on it are pretty good! I can also highly recommnd this to anyone with sight difficulties, as the colour screen is very clear and all text is larger than on many other MP3 players. All in all, a fantastic product which I can highly recommend.
worth its cost ...a fantastic all in one player (2008-09-12)

a very compact, sleek player ...quality of music is equal to that of an ipod....I was planning to spend on i-pod shuffle...but I saw this product in a store and this is really a fantastic one....happy to buy this one.. :)
Great value - BUT (2008-09-08)

This really is a great value MP3 player - it looks good, sounds good and in terms of storage, brilliant value for money. BUT... if you've downloaded a lot of your music from iTunes you'll probably find that a fair proportion of it can't be directly imported on to the player as lots of tracks from iTumes are copy protected. Creative don't make this clear in the item description and trying to get an answer out of the customer support team about whether or not it's possible to import iTunes copy protected tracks is like pulling teeth. (The short answer is 'No'). You don't even get an error message to tell you that the tracks are copy protected when you try to import them. You're just left thinking 'huh?' Yes, you can burn the tracks on to a CD and then rip this CD using the Creative device manager but it's just a fiddly process. It's a bit of a shame but it's the only blight on an otherwise excellent product.
