Excellent Starter Razor (2008-03-03)

I'm a recent convert to DE shaving , having really known nothing other than 'multi blade' shaving.Having been recommended a DE Razor due to my Sensitive skin and excessive Razor Burn , i decided to take the leap.Now - theres a fair few DE Razors out there and my sources told me that not all are created equal - Some are for experienced users only and others are ineffective at best.. I did initially look at the Merkur Futur , however i was advised to stick to the HD Classic for my first Ventrue into DE shaving.Im Several months in now and its a revelation.The Merkur HD is a perfect first razor. I was expecting a couple of nicks and cuts while i adjusted my Technique , but ive found the HD to be a very forgiving razor.My Razor burn is now a thing of the past , and my wife informs me that my skins never looked better.Solid , Weighty and it feels like its built to last a lifetime.A good purchase.

Keep it simple stupid (2007-12-25)

Although the description doesn't say so, this is the famous Merkur HD (Heavy Duty) or 34C.The design is deceptively simple but perfect.You can pay more, get razors that are adjustable, have five blades, are covered in gold, whatever - but you won't find a razor that's better at giving a really smooth shave, better built, or better value for money.Proof that "keep it simple stupid" are still words of wisdom - unbeatable.
