High Contrast is a phenom!!!! (2008-07-03) High Contrasts best album to date from start to finish every single song is amazing! Havin beeen brought up on d n b for years, high contrast is a fresh sound and is still sounding as fresh as ever on this his thurd album, with his liquid funk style of d n b total legend!Skip to Pink Flamingoes just amazing!
Old raver happy (2008-06-03) I love this album....... it takes me back to a time when the jungle/breakbeat sound was just emerging before the apache break took over and everything went dark. There should be more music like this.Strong, funky beats with great hands in the air moments.
Drumtastic (2008-04-25) This album is brilliant. If you don't like it then get your waxed up ears syringed and listen again. if you still don't like it then your cluless and should return to your stock, aitken and waterman driven existence
amazing! (2008-03-17) i've listened to this album over and over and there's nothing i dislike about it. i don't skip any songs on this at all. ever song is uplifting. it's just as good, actually, better than high society. lincoln barrett and the rest of the artists on hospital records are the only ones producing something different than the usual generic drum and bass/jungle albums. hospital records are the future of drum and bass because all of their artists are a head and shoulders above the rest of the producers out there.
High Bombast (2008-01-21) The fundamental problem with this album is that it is achingly unoriginal and devoid of ideas. Add to this some devastatingly awful lyrics that a four year old would be ashamed of (Track 2 - Everything's Different) get a Rick Astley soundalike to sing it, throw in the odd bargain bin bassline (Track 3 - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida) and you have the recipe for another 'Now That's what I call 90s D&B' album. Apart from tracks 7, 8 and 9 (which are rather good it must be said) the listener is served up predictably tired Dross & Bass throwbacks that sound as if they were written 10 years ago but didn't make it onto the album, the one from ten years ago that is...For anyone who is looking for something breathtakingly original along the lines of the seminal 'Racing Green', forget it, you may as well chuck this CD out the nearest Hospital window. This really does sounds more like an album of cuttingroom floor afterthoughts and half baked riffs injected with the cheapest D&B pollyfilla available. Is there an alternative? Yes - Spend your hard earned cash on Nu:Tone's `Back of Beyond' or Logistics' `Now More Than Ever' if you want to hear music with minerals. As for this? 3 decent tracks out of 13 is about a 23% score, which is pretty much 1 star. Must try harder.
