What a Bargain (2008-08-03) Sony Bravia TV for under £400. Ordered on a Tuesday night and delivered on the Thursday morning, out of the box and setup in under 10 minutes. It may not have all the bells and whistles of the latest models but its still a great TV and i would recommend it to anyone.Well done Amazon!
Great TV, great price and it's a Sony (2008-07-25) Superb television at an amazing price, especially for a Sony who I've always regarded as the best. Very easy to set up, it's out of the box and ready to use in 20 mins.To people who have complained about the picture, I suggest they do what I did and check on line, there is lots of good advice on how to get the best picture and I'm sure it would help them, it did me.

A great set (2008-06-26) The first thing you notice about this TV is its appearance - it looks just great and is surprisingly thin from front to back, plus it only weighs fifteen kilos, so my old TV cabinet could hold it perfectly well. A great start! Inside the box there is the TV, a small table-top stand for it, the remote control, and two copies of the instruction manual, one of which is entirely in foreign languages. After I had screwed the stand to the back of the TV the setup took all of five minutes, if that - all I had to do was fit the scart leads to my DVD and video recorders, plug the aerial in, and finally plug the set into the mains. After switching it on the TV enters a setup routine where after answering a couple of questions (what language do you want, and are you in a shop - seems a strange question but the TV has a predefined brightness / contrast / backlight setting for use in shops) it tunes itself in and away you go.So, how does it perform? The picture quality on Freeview is excellent, and far better than any Freeview box I have used before. Analogue performance is obviously less sharp but is still acceptable. You can easily switch between the two modes via two buttons on the remote control (there is also a button to enter a "theatre" mode, whatever that may be). Sound quality is excellent and is certainly loud enough for me, and unlike some other reviewers I have had no problems at all with viewing angles or the number of connectors on the set - there are plenty of connectors on the back and side of the set for me. One nice feature is that the set has a "smartlink" feature, which means that if you own a smartlink video - as I found I did - this means that from the Freeview electronic programme guide you can press the information button, find a show and then press another key on the TV remote and it automatically sets your video to record it - great fun! The only snag with this is that you have to leave the set on standby as the set is obviously the Freeview tuner, plus if the timer is set you cannot turn the TV back on again as a "do you wish to cancel recording - yes / no" box appears, and if you select no the TV goes back into standby. Obviously if you used a PVR or an external Freeview box, or set the video timer manually you wouldn't have this issue.Apart from the above recording issue, the only concern I have about this set is that when the Freeview broadcasts are upgraded in 2009 to support HD broadcasting as the receiver is built into the set it is highly doubtful that it will be upgradeable, so I'll probably need to buy a set-top box when this happens. I'm not too concerned though, as for the while I've got an outstandingly good TV in my lounge.
