The sexy young residents of a peaceful beachside town are plunged into a world of intrigue, secrets and shifting romantic ties when their town's sinister supernatural past comes alive. This deliciously trashy gay American television show, fuses erotica, horror and soap opera making this one of the most exciting guilty pleasures to date.
Synopsis

This hot, cheerfully campy soft-core soap opera follows the tumultuous personal lives of the sexy residents of Dante's Cove as the town's eerie supernatural history begins to affect its present. Cheesy, sleazy, and thoroughly enjoyable, the show's addictive first season boasts a cast of talented eye candy that includes William Gregory Lee, Charlie David, Gregory Michael, Tracy Scoggins, and Nadine Heimann.

Awesome! Really different -you'll love it! (2008-07-21)

I don't normally go for modern soaps or drama about the supernatural but this is amazing. From the very beginning it has a real WOW factor - can't believe some of the things in it - graphic, sexy, up-front. Really makes you go "OMG!" I was so hooked I watched the whole series one in one sitting (2 episodes) and had to force myself to be patient not to open Season 2 straight away but save it. It was such good fun to watch and the cast are terrific(and very sexy). This really is different and you'll love it!!!
Guilty pleasure (2008-06-01)

The description of Dante's Cove is spot on: A guilty pleasure. If you're looking for Oscar-winning performances and directing in the leagues of Kubrick, Tarentino or Spielberg then look elsewhere, but this is one of the best buys I have ever made. This series isn't deep, meaningful or enlightening: it is great value trash that you can watch again and again and again.Ignore the fact that Dante's Cove has only two symbols on the weather chart: sunny or lightning. Ignore the time-filling clips which leave you wondering whether what you've seen is a flashback or if you've got to that bit yet, or thinking "I've seen that chest before". Ignore all these things and take it for what it is:Good value trash that you don't need to think too hard about. The ultimate guilty pleasure.
it's soap with added spice (2008-04-24)

One of the best gay tv soap progs to come out of the usa in recent years, this will benefit from repeated viewing. Sexy cast and wonderful locations add to the sheer campness of it all, lets have more like this, guys.
Sexy, Campy, Fresh and Fun Series (2008-03-12)

Dante's Cove is an excellent programme. As long as you do not take it too seriously, it has the power to both turn on and excite the audience with its sexy atmosphere and supernatural elements. The first series begins in the past, 1840 to be precise, detailing the fate of Ambrosius Vallin (William Gregory Lee), a man engaged to be married who is caught by his fiancé, Grace Neville (Tracy Scoggins), having sex with his butler. Unfortunately for him, Grace is witch of the religion of Tresum, an ancient coven of female witches who must kill their husbands in order to pass on the gift to their daughters. Grace enacts her revenge upon Ambrosius, chaining him in the cellar of their home and placing a curse on him: He will remain trapped there forever until the kiss of a young man sets him free. In order to make this more effective, she ages her fiancé beyond all recognition, and despite still being desperately in love with him, leaves him there to rot.The narrative then skips forward to the present day where Kevin and Toby are saying goodbye to each other after a wonderful summer together. Toby has to leave for Dante's Cove, his home to get back to work and his normal life. Kevin lives with his timid Mother and bigoted stepfather and after an argument with him over his sexuality, decides to leave home and live with Toby in Dante's Cove for good.Kevin travels to Toby's home, which is the Hotel Dante - previously the home of Ambrosius where Grace discovered his secret affair - and meets his friends, who instantly warm to him. They all believe the place to haunted as other things apart from Ambrosius' imprisonment have gone on over the years. Ultimately, as is clear from the beginning, Kevin eventually stumbles upon the cellar after enduring several nights of strange nightmares and a voice calling to him in his head. Ambrosius is awakened when he grabs hold of Kevin and kisses him in the cellar, thus freeing him. He is besotted by his saviour and pursues him for the rest of the series. Toby has visions and warnings from different sources and worries that Kevin is in danger, but can he save him from Ambrosius before it is too late? The programme is very sexy and the sex scenes - especially those involving Kevin, Toby and Ambrosius - are a particular highlight: Hot, steamy and leaving you wanting more. The story - which is often forgotten about because of the cast's hot bodies - is very interesting and it will be fun to see how the occult themes are developed throughout the rest of the programme in general. Although obviously borrowing on elements of other fantasy shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Charmed, this programme is also great in itself. Although primarily appealing to a gay audience, the programme does also feature straight characters and at least one straight sex scene as well as gay females. This series will appeal to anyone willing to see a light, fun and erotic programme that does not try to be anything other than mindless, sexy entertainment. The programme is already a cult hit and would be a welcome addition to any DVD collection.
Disappointing but a potential 'camp classic' (2008-03-12)

"Dante's Cove -Series One" is an American supernatural drama show that was originally made for US gay TV station "Here!" There are many problems with "Dante's Cove". The key problem lies with the bad script. Not to mention several uninspiring performances from some of the actors and actresses. In particular, there is a terrible attempt at a British accent by a semi-familiar actress who you might remember from US "Dynasty" spin-off "The Colby's", though why she is in it is a complete mystery? It's difficult to understand whether this was a serious and failed attempt at creating a new niche in g*y TV - or is it just simply soft-core porn?? However - the producers should be praised for not taking the same route that many others have previously. The central theme of the show is unusually - Black Magic. I think it's fair to say that many gay men and women cannot relate to the common themes of drugs, prostitution, depression, disease and violence that are often the focus of gay TV shows... and so it's nice to see that some people are exploring other genres. I, for one, relish the opportunity to see some originality. The show is unexpectedly visually beautiful - whoever shot this deserves top marks! The locations are great. The cast are gorgeous (on the whole). The hammy acting is unintentionally (or intentionally...?) hilarious at times. You will find yourself giggling through the duration of the two episodes. The sex scenes are mostly lovingly shot - which again makes a change from the norm. With a few tweaks here and there, it could have easily been a raunchy gay version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. What a shame! It never rises to that idea.Roll on the second series though - I am `bizarrely' hooked and I can't explain why. I'm also left feeling jealous of our American cousins who have their own significantly funded "gay" TV channels. How I wish that we had the same here.To sum up:- If you like watching silly over-the-top American soap opera's, I'm sure you will probably enjoy this. Otherwise, buying this DVD might be a gamble you regret.
