Customer Reviews
Great value (2008-08-21) This is great value. I hesitated about purchasing partly because of the reviews, including the ones that say it steals the full screen. If you work in Full Edit mode it does NOT do this (or not on my MacBook at any rate) - the desktop is visible and accessible at the bottom of the screen behind the dock.I also wondered whether I might end up paying nearly £100 for something that was not a lot better than iPhoto but much less functional than full Photoshop. In actual fact it is a significant advance on iPhoto for image manipulation and does everything I want just as well as the full version would. The only downside I have encountered is that it is not intuitive to use and the included documentation is poor. To be fair, Adobe do recommend that you use their website Help, but I'd recommend anyone who does not have Photoshop experience to also purchase Barbara Brundage's "Photoshop elements 6 for Mac The Missing Manual".
A Photographer's Dream! (2008-08-04) This is by far the best purchase I've made this year. Apart from the lengthy but not too complicated installation, this is a perfect piece of photo editing software for Digital Photographers and people of a creative nature. I use this program on my Macbook with not to much difficulty at all. It did use a lot of the resources on my laptop when I had a 1G memory but after I upgraded my memory (which was in my plans anyway) to 2G it worked even better. It does say in the box that for optimum use, it needs 1G of memory so don't try running anything else at the same time. I've used CS3 and there are probably 90% of the features on this program. Unless you are a serious professional (e.g. High end sports or nature photographer) then I really would advise you save your money and get this. I'm a semi pro photographer who has sold a quite a few pics and this works perfect! One other slight downside is Adobe's lack of putting a manual in the box. I have bought this manual Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac: The Missing Manual and it is the best manual on the market at a great price! Easy to use, in depth explanations. So if you buy this program then I seriously advise this book too!
complicated (2008-07-06) loads of special effects etc, but it slows your computer down big time, also their semms to be no facility to delete photos & no explanation on how to do it, very complicated.
Sending this back to Amazon (2008-05-27) I'm running this on Mac OS X (leopard) - sure it installs itself and then does nothing. If you are accustomed to the intuitive nature of Mac applications...you won't find it here. This is your worst nightmare...a Windows app running on your Mac.It is unable to pull files from iPhoto which means (as far as I can see) you have to convert to jpg and export them to your desk top to use them. More data loss! An attempt to do access you iPhoto file generates an error message (the first I've seen on my Mac!). This also means that the vaunted organisation features of this software are useless. The online help? That's for Windows users....not a word about Mac. Search for "iPhoto" via online help and no results are found. There is nothing in the provided "Getting Started Guide" (this is more a brochure of features than any useful how to guide) about the Mac integration or iPhoto. If you are thinking...."this Adobe Photoshop software is going to be really complicate to use..." then you are spot on! It's useless.
Great!.But one small bug. (2008-05-17) Having used P/shop CS on my laptop for a couple of years i was reluctant to buy what thought was a cut down version for my iMac.I wasn't disappointed.Apart from the lack of quick mask(which may be hiding in there somewhere),and a slight glitch in the display when re-sizing certain files,it's near perfect for the digital photographer.Even the sharpen filter has improved hugely. For the price, there's nothing else comes close.Well done Adobe!.
