Ike Quebec sits in jazz heaven rightly alongside Webster and Hawkins and Young as great saxophonists who paint pictures in the imagination as their music floats round the room.Blue and Sentimental is perhaps his masterpiece featuring Paul Chambers on Bass, Philly Joe Jones on drums and Grant Green on guitar and the spaces sing as sweetly as the music.Quebec is an unsung hero of Blue Note, first recording with them in 1944 he acted amongst many other things as a talent scout introducing countless up and coming names to Blue Note - including Dexter Gordon.This album is one of the great jazz albums of all time and any collection missing it has a serious space - easily remedied by purchasing this stunning RVG edition.
