Pokémon 101
What are Pokémon? Pokémon come I all shapes and sizes. Each Pokémon has one or two types of moves (such as Grass, Fire or Water) which it uses in battle. Pokémon also develop their own personalities, likes and dislikes – just like humans do. Pokémon and humans have learned to live and work together in harmony to create a better life for all.

Pokémon grow and evolve in different ways. When Pokémon travel with a Pokémon trainer, they gain experience from battling other Pokémon and other trainers. Pokémon can also gain experience by staying at the Pokémon daycare, but nothing beats first-hand battle experience. All Pokémon have one or two innate element types. Pokémon types reflect the strengths and weaknesses as well as the environments they originated from. For example Fire-type Pokémon are often found near hot environments, excel in fire-type moves and are weak against Water-type moves. If you know what type of Pokémon your opponent is using, it is usually a good strategy to use the opposing type. Gym leaders and trainers always use one or two Pokémon types. Like most creatures, Pokémon live in environments suited to their needs. A skilled Pokémon trainer will search everywhere for Pokémon and learn where to find different types. Some Pokémon are more elusive than others. You will need key items such as a fishing pole to catch some Pokémon.

Starting out in the game you find yourself transformed into a Pokémon! After taking a Pokémon personality test the form of your Pokémon will be revealed. Washed ashore on the beach a fellow Pokémon is beside you asking for your help in finding lost treasure. You can form rescue teams to discover the mystery around your transformation as you hunt for lost treasure along the way. Explore this fantastic land untouched by human hands as you join hundreds of Pokémon in randomly-generated dungeons.

Utilizing the Wi-fi connection feature enables players to rescue each other or send out your own SOS for help. With 16 available playable Pokémon including Chimarchar, Munchlax, Piplup as well as previous Pokémons including Pikachu, Squirtle, and Charmander the fun never stops! Keep a keen eye out for familiar faces from Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl as well. With over 490 Pokémon and non-repeating dungeons this game ensure infinite exploration. Explore long-lost dungeons or hunt down criminal Pokémon. The choice is yours in this open-ended game.

For years you've captured, traded and battled with them; now it's time once again to become a Pokémon yourself! It's time to join the adventures of Treasure Town.

Fans of the two previous Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games, Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, will marvel at the greatly enhanced graphics, new story and grand adventure in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness. For Game Boy® Advance owners, the fresh look and wireless aspects of these new Pokémon titles provide even more reasons to upgrade to Nintendo DS. And best of all for budget-conscious parents, Nintendo DS is also able to play the entire library of Game Boy Advance games.

You can also save and share your Pokémon photos with friends via the Wii message board. You can challenge them to see who's captured the best Pokémon poses!

For those of you have enjoyed the Pokemon games over the years, or at the very least played the recent ones, you should definitely enjoy this game. After collecting, battling, trading and so much more with your favourite Pokemon, you can now BE a Pokemon. Better still, the game tells you what kind of Pokemon you are by asking you a variety of questions then testing your 'aura'. You then pick a Pokemon partner from the list (they can't be the same Pokemon type as you) and then you get to name them! You then end up on a beach with no memory of being a human, and then your partner comes along and finds you. After some dialogue, you're ready to start your first adventure! It's a little different from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team Blue/Red (Blue was for DS and Red was for GBA. Personally, I recommend Blue). Instead of going out on rescues a lot, you concentrate more on exploring the dungeons (hence the 'Explorers of Time/Darkness' titles). A couple of people are saying the 'Time' version is slightly better than 'Darkness', because it has a wider range of Pokemon to recruit for your team. There is also a wider range of Pokemon to be in both Darkness and Time. It now includes Sinnoh region Pokemon as well as Kanto, Johto and Hoenn. Some of the old Pokemon from the first Mystery Dungeon games have been dropped (such as Cubone, Machop, Meowth and Eevee. Skitty may have been dropped also but I haven't tested it for that yet). They have been replaced with more of the other region Pokemon.A rather delightful game with a good story line and gameplay. Allows the player to directly interact with their Pokemon in their own world. Definitely recommended for those who love Pokemon.

This is another quality addition to the Pokémon series. The game begins by asking you a variety of questions to judge what type of Pokémon you begin the game as, and then you get the choice of another Pokémon to be on your team. The Game's story line is fantastic; the plot revolves around 'Time Gears' which control the flow of time in the world which Pokémon live. It becomes apparent in the early stages of the game that the Time Gears are being taken and thus time is grinding to a halt in different parts of the world. The story follows yourself as a Pokémon and your chosen partner, as you join a Pokémon guild and together aim to solve the mystery of the stolen time gears. As with previous titles in the series you can add Pokémon to your team to travel and battle with you in the various 'Mystery Dungeons'. There are a vast range of items that can enhance your Pokémon's attributes, whilst tactically your team can be fine-tuned to the extent of linking moves, and giving orders to specific Pokémon once your team is exploring within a dungeon. The game is very 'text heavy' in respect that the game continually pauses to 'fill in the gaps' with text discussions between Pokémon; however I don't see this as a bad point. The graphics are basic, but the game has some beautiful cut scenes and the general look of the game is bright and cheerful. The music is catchy and although repetitive, never gets annoying, typical Mario type themes you never get tired of. The game play follows a similar mould throughout, as it is your aim to progress through the numerous floors of the different dungeons, defeating Pokémon and avoiding traps as you progress, but the building up of Pokémon stats, learning new moves, and adding new Pokémon to your team is a continual incentive to carry on. I would recommend this game to any owner of a DS, the story, game play and overall look makes this game a worthwhile addition to your collection.
