Description
The Music return with 'Strength In Numbers', an album that follows up 2004's 'Welcome To The North' perfectly. A combination of dance music and bluesy rock is The Music's distinctive sound, with uplifting lyrics belting out over big riffs and bigger beats. The title track is the first single to be lifted from the record and epitomises the band's ethic of music that deserves to be turned up and played to packed dancefloors.

Poor (2008-08-27) I loved the first two albums by the Music but have got to say this is a big disapointment. They have ditched the rock/dance sound for a Level 42/dance sound and on most of the tracks they are using a drum machine which for me just doesn't work. As a result they have lost a lot of the energy from their previous recordings. The best song on the album is the hidden track...which isn't a good sign.I'd recomend that you listen to a few tracks off the album first before buying as it's quite different from their previous outings.
Return to form (2008-08-23) Wlecome to The North was a critical success, but didn`t quite cut it for me after the astonishing Debut CD. SIN is a return to form for the Northern Disco/rock outfit and might even be their finest effort yet. The first four tracks see them ditch the Led Zep/70`s rock influences of their eponymous debut and sound for all the world as if they`ve been listening to their mums` old Giorgio Moroder albums and then moved onto some dodgy 80`s synth disco for influences. Somehow though, it works. All these tracks sound great in their somewhat retro way. In fact there isn`t a poor track on this album. For me the highlight is the final, 12 minute plus psychedelic workout, "Inconceivable Odds". What starts off as a slow ballad eventually turns into an effects laden guitar piece which somehow manages to steer clear of being boring. Only Tool normally manage to pull this off, so kudos to Nutter and co. Also particular Kudos to Robert Harvey for being part of that very small and exclusive band of English singers who sing in an English accent, rather than the usual cod American one. Great CD, well worth a listen.
Fantastic!!! (2008-08-21) I recently got into The Music since a friend introduced me to their music. I`m not even usually a fan of this type of music, but this album alone was enough to convert me! This album has so many catchy tunes, I especially like Idle, The Spike, Strength In Numbers and Vision. But seriously, all the songs are of a really high quality - there are no flops on this album at all. After their second album (which was a bit disappointing), I`m really pleased with this one. I can`t wait to hear more of their music and to see them live! They really deserve more recognition for their excellent work!
Buy this and go see them live (2008-07-30) A great album from The Music which shows a development in their sound, bringing to the fore the dance elements that were present in their previous albums. Rob Harvey uses his voice in more ways on this album rather than going all out all the way through, and there are less juggernaut type anthems on here, however the new style is no less effective in creating their euphoric club rock. The Japanese Special Edition is hugely recommended as all of the bonus tracks are well worthy of a place in the original release, and it is hard to understand why they didn't put them on. To really understand how good this album, and all of The Music's songs are, then you have to see them live. You won't regret it!
